CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH

"Valery?" I saw Miss Grace.

Tiningnan niya kaagad ang mga kamay ng lalaki kaya kusang napatingin din ako doon at nakitang... Namumula ito at parang may mga gasgas pa at mga pasa.

"Xavier, nagprapraktis ka na namang mag-isa." Napatingin rin si Miss, Grace sa lupang kinatatayuan niya at nakitang may abo ito. "At ginamit rin sa mga hayop? Di ba ilang beses ko nang sabihin sa'yo na huwag kang magpraktis ng mag-isa dahil delikado ito sa kalagayan mo, at maaari ka ring makapanakit ng iba dahil dito! At ano to? Inaway mo rin ba siya?" Pagtuturo ni Miss Grace sa'kin.

"Palagi ka na lang may kaaway! Detention now! And it's not only for this but for also skipping one of the classes this afternoon." He groaned at bilis na tumakbo! Y-yung parang isa siyang bampira? Pero ewan ko ba kung bakit bigla na lamang siya napaestatwa!

"Nah uh Xavier... You're going inside the detention, my way..." Miss Grace snapped her fingers in the air then that Xavier disappeared!

What the freak did just again happened? What the heck am I seeing?! Gosh?!

"Valery, hali ka." Naalimpungatan ako.

"Y-yes Miss!"

"Pagpasensiyahan mo lang si Xavier, he does everything he wanted to do and no one dares to interrupt him, so just be careful. His heart's like indestructible stone, hmm, funny facts he's really the same as his surname." Napairap si Miss Grace, at napalunok naman ako, I'm still in shock!

Lumakad na kami paalis sa garden at pumunta sa second floor.

"Valery, sa second floor na ito ay mayroong 200 pataas na silid, malalaki ang mga kwarto dito at may kahanga-hangang mga disenyo at mga gamit, sinigurado namin iyon para hindi naman kayo mainip, especially when you can't go outside till we say so, understood?" Napatango ako. "Each student has a roommate unless... You're a guy. And because you're a girl, obviously may magiging roommate ka." Tumango lang ako ulit as a sign of Ok pero nagtataka lang kung bakit ang mga lalaki ay tig-isa talaga ng rooms?

"Why boys doesn't have or shouldn't have any roommates?" She smirked.

"I expected that question coming out from you, well, that's because palagi na lang sila nagkakaaway-away and I know, I know, it's kinda unfair for every other girls here in the Academy, eventually that's the best way na makaiwas ng gulo. Boys just have different taste of fights than the girls here in this Academy." She sighed like she remembered something. "Ahh, they just cannot control themselves that easily, delikado lang dahil may mga kapangyarihan sila. Oh by the way, let's go to your room now, I still have a lot of things to explain to you." She smiled.

"Wait miss, Si Mama Neng pala?" Napahinto siya at humarap sa'kin.

"I'll tell you when we get into your room, don't worry, I'll tell you everything so you'll understand."

"Ok..." Pagsasagot ko lang at sumunod na sa kanya, napakarami pala ng mga rooms dito at hindi ko naman maiwasang mapamangha, all of what I'm seeing are indeed very pleasing to my eyes.

Damn, the chandeliers from above, the red carpet on the floor, the wall paintings, the decorations, all! Are very mesmerizing.

Pagkarating namin sa room na I'll be staying in and who I'll be staying with, may binigay bigla sa akin si Miss Grace na card.

"That card is the key to your room, you and your roommate has the same card, but you might just need that in the first place, because... When the room recognizes you as its owner, you can just go over this side," Pumunta siya sa side ng door at ipinakita sa'kin ang isang nakadikit na gadget sa pader at may nakasulat na maliit na letra sa ibabaw nito.

"Face detect," Pagbabasa ko.

"Yes, face detect." She smiled. "You and your roommate are only capable of using this and others cannot." Tumango ako muli.

"For the meantime, use your card. Just swipe it here." Tinuro niya naman ang sa giliran ng gadget kaya iniswipe ko ito at bumukas ang pinto na parang elevator, ay grabe super naman yata, plus ang lamig pa! Astig.

Noong pumasok na kami, sinalubong kami ng isang babae, halata naman na siya ang magiging roommate ko, she has this warm smile plastered on her face looking at me, and oh she's cute.

"Omg hi!" Greetings niya sa akin, mukhang excited, pero tila nabigla siya nang makita kaagad si Miss Grace, "Oh, g-good afternoon Miss Grace!" Bakas naman sa mukha ni Miss Grace ang pagtataka.

"Evie, why are you still here? It's quarter to 2:00 PM." Tanong ni Miss Grace sa kanya.

"Um—I just left my book here miss for our next subject, sorry gotta go!" At dali-dali siyang lumabas na natataranta. Napakurap naman ako dahil doon. Napailing-iling lang naman si Miss Grace dahil para bang alam niyang hindi iyon ang tunay na rason.

"Well anyways Val, how do you like your room? I especially made sure the designs align to your likings and have gotten you a trustworthy companion, and it was... That girl from earlier." Parang naging hesitant pa siya noong sinabi niya 'yung word na trustworthy. "Don't get me wrong she really is, and I bet she was just too excited." Napakurap ako muli.

Excited for what? To meet me? Haha, If it is then she's so sweet to skip classes just for me.

"So darling, shall we sit over there for a moment? I've something very important to tell you." Umupo kami sa malaking California King Bed which is going to be mine for the time being? Woah.

"What is it Miss Grace?" I ask politely hiding my excitement.

"Valery I know it's weird pero isa ka ring elemental user, hindi lang isang elemental user, but you can also detect a lot of things, hindi ko pa masyadong mawari but... I can sense that your inner power is amazingly special than any other students here in the Academy." Nanlaki ang mga mata ko at napawi kaagad ang mga ngiti sa labi.

"W-what are you saying miss?"

"You heard me right."

"But that's impossible, I'm one of the students with elemental powers? Definitely not, I don't have powers, oh my goodness that's not possible—" Pinutol niya ako sa pagsasalita.

"Only myst, elemental users, or students that has magic within them can enter and visit this enchanted school my dear. Why do you think na nandito ka, lady Cahill? Why did the gate opened for you to come in? Our gate here in the Academy only opens for people who has magic within them. Take note lady Cahill, you're one of us now." Unti-unti akong nakaramdam ng matinding kabog sa puso.

Paano? Wala naman akong kapangyarihan, normal lang ako! Gusto ko nang sagot at mayroong isang taong makakapagpaliwanag nang malinaw sa'kin.

"I'm not feeling well can I see my guardian right now? Please..."  Simpleng pagtango ang binigay niya sa'kin bago bumuntong hininga.

"Follow me,"

Pumunta kami ulit sa kanyang malaki na office at nagtaka ako nang makitang paalis si Ma Neng.

"Ma!" Tawag ko sa kanya sa di kalayuan, tumingin siya sa'kin na para bang nabigla. I suddenly find it harder to breathe...

"You're... Leaving me just like that without even explaining on what's going on around here?" I asked, my eyes full of questions and in disbelief. "Where on earth am I? What's really going on?" I tried to speak more calm trying to hold back my fright.

"Val..." She paused and looked at me with teary eyes, linapitan niya ako at yinakap. "I'm so sorry. I... Will not hide it anymore... I believe it's really the time... For you to hear the truth."
