Chapter 3: Small talks, dangerous past

Ariel 's POV

After being seated next to my ex, I thought the situation couldn't be any more annoying and uncomfortable but Haley really had the nerve to ask me " So Ariel, how are you?". All I did was throw her hard glare as my response. I knew she was trying to make small talk with me but all I wanted to do at that moment as run away because I was afraid that my emotions would betray me and make me forgive her for what she has done. Even though she can sense my discomfort she still tried to talk to me. "Ariel, please, just let me explain what happen that night. It wasn't fair for you to just end our relationship then without my explanation." When she said that, I immediately stood up causing my chair to fall and me pointing an accusing finger at her. " Fair? FAIR? You wanna talk about fairness when as YOUR girlfriend, I had always remained faithful to you even when people throw themselves at me. But you? You were willing to kiss MY OWN SISTER because of a stupid dare! What you think I needed an explanation from you about what happen? I had to hear the explanation from your best friend about what happen and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I put my trust in you and gave you my heart along with it but you just threw them away for a STUPID DARE!" By the time I finished venting out to her, everyone was looking at me and before I could breakdown, I quickly left the dining room and told Anthony to bring the car around and told the maids to bring my suitcase down.

Upon entering the car, I just let my emotions out. Anthony saw this through the rear view mirror but said nothing. All he asked was "Where to little miss?" I thought about it for awhile and told Anthony the location. I knew by heart that the place I need to be in right now is THERE. Without further questions, Anthony drove away quickly. Throughout the whole ride, my phone was sounding non stop with notifications from aunt and uncle Shade. I even got a dozen miss calls from Haley who got a hold of my number by begging my aunt and uncle. I just ignored them and let my eyes do their thing and fall asleep.

In my dream, everything seemed so blissful and perfect. I see Haley with a picnic basket waiting by her horse waving me over. I go to her and she said "let's have a picnic" I smiled and agree. When we arrived at the clearing overlooking a vast area of Mystic Lake, Haley looked at me told me she loved me and I told her that I loved her too. She said she was glad I felt the same way as her, she told me to give her my hand and I did so without question. She then slipped a promise ring to me and told me that with us wearing matching rings, nothing could tear us apart. All of a sudden everything started falling apart and I'm now in the hallway of the Academy. I see Haley crying in front of me and on instinct I was about to hug her but then I saw my sister Jules smirking at me and the other royals laughing at me and then I looked at Haley again she was smirking at me as well. "Do you really think I would love a freak like you? You wish! Your sister Jules is 10 times better than you and I have no regret of kissing her at all. You wanna leave go ahead, I don't care" I don't understand, I thought Haley loves me. Everything suddenly became too overwhelming, the laughing, the teasing, everything! Suddenly everything stopped and I hear a voice, "listen to me young princess Ariel, the world is in danger and only you can save it." I didn't know what to do so I asked "what? Why? Who are you? Why am I the one needed to save the world?" the voice responded, "your answers can be found soon enough through the people in the Royal Union but for now you need to WAKE UP!" I quickly woke up and the first thing I saw is Anthony looking at me with a worried face, "Little miss, are you okay? You're sweating. I have been trying to wake you up for awhile now. We've actually arrived at our destination" I looked around me and true enough it seemed as if we've arrived, I told Anthony that I was fine as I walked out the car. Looking around me is bringing back a lot of memories. The training grounds, the garden and most importantly the mansion in front of me. I told Anthony thank you and that he could leave already after he unloaded my suitcase. He asked if I will be okay and I told him that this place is more of a home to me than the castle or academy. Once Anthony left, I walked towards the mansion and with every step I took, piece by piece of my memory of this place came back to me. My first training, my first power, my saviors.

Once I walked up the steps of the mansion, I knocked and the door open. The person on the other side greeted me with a shock expression while mine was a happy expression. The person then hugged me and told me "welcome home" and I said "glad to be home". The person told me to come in and led me to a bedroom. They told me to settle down and come down for lunch because everyone was going to come home for lunch soon and to say I was excited is an understatement because I am thrilled to see the faces of people I truly considered family. After placing my suitcase down, I crashed face first on the silk bed that was once my favourite place to sleep in and it still is to be honest. Looking around the room, told me I truly am home. With that thought in my head I fell asleep with reminiscence of good memories and a smile on my face.
