DIPPER POV:I ran towards the door and slammed it open.
"Don't slam the door!" I heard Grunkle Stan yell from the living room.
I ran as fast as my tiny tween legs would allow me. I felt the weight of my mistake with each heavy step I took. I made it to the attic door and heard quiet sobs.
I opened the door and ran to Mabel.
"Mabel I'm so sorry!" I said.
She didn't move to face me. She just simply mumbled. "Tell me it's not true, Dipper."
I felt a sting of guilt. "Listen, Mabel, In the heat of the moment I-"
"You what? Decided that you could do better? That you could stay here with Bill instead of your own sister?!" She covered her mouth.
I stood in shock. "What do you mean?" I said. I started a mixture of sweating and blushing.
She groaned. "BLARG! You had such a fun time hanging out with Bill that you want to move here to hang out with him even more! Tell me I'm not right!"
I sighed. "Well...."
She threw her hands into the air. "Oh, Oh, So you admit it?" she exclaimed.
I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off.
"I have had the WORST day of my life, Dipper!" she yelled.
I sighed. "Mabel..." I began.
"First, my friends won't be at my birthday party! Then I find out high school is going to be terrible! Then on top of it all, I find out that my crush gets MARRIED IN THE FUTURE! And I never get over her!" She covered her mouth and seemed shocked about what she said.
I was in just as big of a shock as her. We both just stood there for a moment. "Mabel?" was all I managed to say.
She turned her head away. "Forget I said anything..." she said through tears.
It took me a moment to process what I had just heard.
"Mabel..." I said again. "Do you... like Pacifica?"
She sighed heavily through sobs and turned to face me. She hugged her pillow tight. "Do you really think you were the only one crushing on an impossible person all summer?" she said.
I gasped. "But... What about Mermando, and Gabe, and all those other guys?!"
She sniffed again. "Well, I was just..." she sighed again. "Faking..." She rubbed her eyes and looked at me.
I reached out to comfort her, but she dodged my hand. "But even though you've been through this time before, and probably knew how I would feel about you saying yes, you do it anyway!"
"Mabel, I realized that you could live here too! Don't you realize-"
Mabel gawked at me. "You seriously think I would just pack my bags and leave Piedmont, just because you want me to??!" she yelled.
I clenched my fist in frustration. "God, Mabel! You are such a CHILD!" I yelled.
She frowned. "That's because I am a child, Dipper! I'm only twelve!"
I nodded. "Believe me, it shows!"
She huffed and stormed across the room. She grabbed a backpack and headed for the door.
"Mabel, wait!"
She turned before exiting. "I don't ever want to talk to you again! I just want my Dipper back!" she yelled.
That was the last thing she said before I heard the door slam.
I threw myself onto the bed in frustration. I groaned loudly as I watched her dash out into the woods. I watched as something fell out of her bag. I grabbed my binoculars and looked at it. It was a chewed-up pen.
I started panicking. If she had the wrong bag, she had the rift, if she had the rift, Weirdmageddon would happen! I dashed to the bedroom door but then I realized. The portal to Weirdmageddon had only opened because Bill tricked her. And he wouldn't trick her again...Right?
I sat on my bed and fiddled with my hat. I took the pin off and held it in my hands. I rubbed my fingers against the smooth edges. No, he wouldn't. I held the pin close to my heart and my thoughts directed to the kiss again.
I've kissed my share of people before. But that kiss was special. I closed my eyes and could still remember his hands wrapped around my waist, and mine around his neck.
I still felt the kiss trickle down my spine and throughout my veins. I knew that I definitely liked him, now. But did he love me back? Of course! He kissed me, didn't he? I felt no longer fear when I thought of his name, but comfort.
And that very thought is what carried me to sleep.
That was until I heard a loud thud. I looked up at Grunkle Ford. He was running throughout my room and lifted up a backpack. He dumped it out, revealing chocolates and birthday posters.
"Just as I suspected..." he said, tossing it to the side.
"Grunkle Ford?" I asked, rubbing my eyes. "What's going on?"
He pointed to the window. "See for yourself, Dipper," he said.
I looked out and was shocked. The sky was bright orange, like a sunset, and a big tear was in the sky. The unmistakable portal to the Nightmare realm.
I covered my mouth to prevent a scream. "I've got to find Bill..." I whispered to myself.
Before Ford could even stop me, I was running to the lake. "Bill? Bill!" I yelled into the sky.
Suddenly he appeared.
I felt my heart begin to crumble. "Bill, how could you?!" I yelled.
"What, you think I did this?" he asked.
I wiped my eyes with my forearm. "Quit playing dumb, Bill! I know it was you!"
He raised a finger to object.
"Don't even talk!" I screamed. "You know, I was dumb enough to think that kiss actually meant something to you! I thought, for a little while, you could actually change!"
He stood there, allowing me to finish.
"But you know what you are, Bill? You are a psychotic monster! And you will never change!"
I wiped my eyes again and ran off.
"Pinetree, wait!" I heard Bill yell.
I stopped for a second, reached into my pocket, threw the pin onto the ground, and kept running. I didn't know exactly where I was going, but all I knew was that I needed to get away from Bill.
