AUTHORS NOTE: I rewrote the poem so before you read this chapter, read the poem in the prologue again.

DIPPER POV:

I wiped my eyes and looked at Wendy. She had nothing to do, so she began talking to me.

"So...you like Bill, huh?"

I blew my nose on a recept and shook my head. "Are you kidding? Not anymore."

"But... you did?" she asked, looking at me, again.

I only bit my lip in response.

"I mean, I get it."

I gasped and looked at Wendy. "You... You do?" I asked.

She nodded. "Sure I would say it's psychotic to like him now but if he really had you fooled, I wouldn't blame you. I mean, I know what it's like to think a certain way about a guy only to find out he's a total jerk!"

I nodded. "Yeah, I guess you do."

She took a bite out of her bat meat. "I mean, have you met Robbie?"

I chuckled. "Oh yeah," I said. "Hey did you know Robbie's secretly a closeted trans girl? Her name is Stacey."

Wendy's eyes widened again and she almost choked on her bat. "WAIT. Are you serious?!"

I nodded. "And she knows it."

Wendy pointed at the ground. "Right now?" she asked.

I nodded again. "She's just really, really insecure."

She grinned and leaned back. "Wow, that answers so many questions!" she replied. Her words were muffled from eating while talking. "But anyway, are you sure you're over him? I mean... I do know how hard it is to get over your feelings right away. I mean, I get it if you still...you know...love him..."

I opened my mouth to speak. "I-"

"Hold on!" Mabel said, bursting out of the dressing room.

I looked at her. "How'd it go?" I asked.

Pacifica blushed and said nothing. She only held Mabel's hand in response.

I gave her a thumbs up and Wendy whooped. "WOO! Go, Mabel!"

Mabel blushed too. "Dipper I'm sorry." She said. "I'm sorry for that outburst. I realized I was being super selfish at the shack and-"

"Don't apologize, Mabel," I said. "You were right, I was being a total jerk. I thought that just because I'm mature that you are as well. That's totally not the case."

Mabel sighed. "But I wanted you to come back with me and I know that you were offered the apprenticeship twice, so it must mean you said yes for a purpose..."

I shook my head. "It was a dumb purpose. For a dumb guy. I shouldn't have said yes. I'm not staying."

She smiled and held her arms out. "Awkward Sibling hug?"

I grinned as she walked over to me. "Sincere sibling hug."

We then hugged each other and did the signature, "Pat, Pat." at the end.

"Where'd you come up with that? Sincere sibling hug? That sounds like something sappy I would come up with." Mabel said after we broke away.

I blushed. "You caught me. It was er- will be something you say."

She nudged my elbow in a playful manner. "I knew it."

I nodded. "Yeah, it was while we were in the..." That's when I realized something! It was crazy! I was so dumb for not noticing it before! "Mabel," I began, eyeing her suspiciously. "how did you escape the bubble?"
