Sitting at a desk in the white walled room, jotting down notes on a future speech to the country, a knock at the door brought Prince Jirou out of his writing trance, telling whoever was outside to come in in his language. Warrant Officer Sarkova and the red haired Shayla entered the room, Jirou looking up from the small stack of paper and acknowledging the two.
"Senator Akolostor, Miss Sarkova, to what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked, not standing from his desk but still bowing his head in greeting.
"....I work for you..?" Elaina said, Jirou almost laughing and having to clear up who he was specifically talking to.
"I meant the question for Miss Akolostor," he told her, the officer's face growing red with embarrassment. She excused herself from the room and left the two to be alone.
"You know, I offered her to be my assistant and she refused," Shayla told the man, who nodded.
"I am aware, she told me she would prefer to be at my side," the prince set his pen down and leaned back in his chair, "whether that be out of loyalty or emotion, I know not, but I digress. How goes the selection for mayor?"
"It's down to three choices, all of which have potential," she sat on the edge of the desk, taking his pen and flipping it between her fingers, "it's almost a shame we cleaned up the gangs, could have used that as a question for what their actions would be,"
"That would have been interesting indeed, but our people are safer now thanks to them being gone. I ultimately leave the choice to you. What did you come here for?"
"I've made contact with the Xeras Empire and offered negotiations for an alliance pact, but they refused. The only ones who fully committed to signing an alliance pact were Siddia, Alvoros, and Korombrine. Your father refused too, of course, naming you a traitor to your people," Shayla set an envelope down on his desk from within her black jacket. It bore the symbol of the black snake on a red shield, the insignia of the Hellot Empire. He carefully opened the contents and read through the letter twice, sighing when finishing the second time.
"Two years if rebuilding and now this," Jirou lightly tossed the paper to the side, rubbing his temples with both hands. He wasn't often overwhelmed, but this was a far greater threat he had to consider. Jirou let his hands fall to the desk with a thud, shaking his head but knowing what he had to do.
"Start preparing everything we have and contact our new allies. It is best to not lie to them about our situation. If they still sign the alliance pact, then we will be much better off then doing this alone," Jirou stated, standing from the chair, "send a response to my father, telling him Syncaire will not bend the knee to his corruption. We will end his reign with one final war, whether we pull through to victory or lose everything in the process,"
"Will do sir," Shayla said with a confident grin, the prince sitting back down and folding his hands together, thinking of what to add to the speech to relay their decision of declaring war on the Hellot Empire once again.
