"Come on. Time to get up, today's the big day." Johanna said softly shaking me carefully. I slowly opened my eyes and as soon as I realized what day it is and what's gonna happen I felt uneasy. "Yeah I'll be ready in five minutes." I said and she turned around and walked downstairs to the great hall.
After I put on my orange dress
I joined her at the breakfast table and ate enough to have energy. "Are you gonna come with me?" I asked her hoping she would. "I'm sorry but I can't sweetie. I wish I could but the other leaders have children your age and they're taking them. One of us always has to stay here and since you're biologically not mine I'm not allowed to go with you. I'm sorry honey." she said, hurt in her eyes. I gave her a weak smile and nodded lightly looking down.
Being lonely is really not fun.
However I tried to stay positive. It is after all just a simulation test that's gonna determine my future. I mean I can still choose another faction but it is preferred to choose the faction of your test results to lead to a good society where everyone fits in.
After breakfast I grabbed my knifes, put them in a band around my thigh, and borrowed a big sack of oats which I'll bring back of course. It's just perfect for training since it is like three foot tall.
When I reached the woods I looked for a good spot for throwing my knifes and I found one. It's my favorite spot because there are five trees that stand in a circle-ish form and when I'm in the middle of the circle I can move and try to hit three trees that are not next to each other but on the opposite which is much more fun. I took all my three knifes, two in my left hand and the one im throwing into my right hand.
When I was ready I took a deep breath and started. First target; the tree on front of me: focus and throw. Next target; the three behind my back: turn and throw. Last target; the tree to my right; turn head right, focus and throw without turning to face it.
"Impressive." I heard someone say. I didn't have any more knifes but if I did I would've hit that person. Luckily I didn't tho cause he's my friend. "Hey Matt." I greeted him. "Are you nervous because of today?" he asked leaning against a tree. "No." I said not very convincing. "Yeah you are." he said with a smile and raised eyebrows. "You just turn every negative feeling into anger and that's why every time something inconvenient happens you come here and let it out." he said chuckling and approaching me. "How come you know me better than I do? How am I supposed to choose a faction if I don't even know myself. It's like all the time I feel angry and there's nothing else I know." I said sighing while walking to the threes and pulling out my knifes. "You're so much more than just angry all the time. And if your test says anything else besides Dauntless you just have to follow your instinct. But I know it will because I know you. And you're just 100% Dauntless." he said pepping me up. "Thanks." I said hugging him after collecting all of my knifes.
"Come on we have to get going now. Don't wanna be late, right?" Matt said breaking the hug. "We?" I asked. "Yeah you're coming with me and my parents. They want you to come with us." he told me. "Now come on." he said one lat time. I quickly put my knifes back in their place and grabbed the sack of oats following him.
