Author's note: This story is inspired by a scene in the first Madoka Magica opening.

My eyes snapped open and I gasped and looked around. All I saw around and above me was a pastel-coloured galaxy and I wondered where I was. I felt strangely weightless. I looked down and gasped again, noticing not only was there more of the pastel-coloured galaxy, but I was unclothed and floating. I was starting to become filled with fear until I heard a voice.

"Do not be afraid," a soft, soothing voice said. It clearly belonged to a female and her voice sounded like mine but also as if she was a bit older than me. I turned my head around in every direction looking for her, and I eventually saw her.

The young woman was also unclothed and floating. She was pretty and seemed to have an ethereal glow to her skin. Her appearance resembled mine but she appeared to be older. She was taller and her facial features were more matured. Slowly, she started to make her way to me.

As soon as she was beside me, my fear dissipated and I felt intense feelings of tranquility and bliss. She wrapped her arms around my figure, holding me in her embrace. The feelings became stronger and I suddenly felt safe.

"You have a dangerous journey ahead of you," she uttered. "You're filled with uncertainty and fear." Suddenly, I remember the quest laying ahead of me. There were many things I were unsure about and monsters I had to get pass or slay. I was fearful for my life. I wondered how she knew about that. I had so many questions, but I was not afraid of her.

"Do not be fearful though, for I have a gift for you when you wake up. It will protect you on your quest," she said. She smiled at me softly. Her smile was beautiful. She put her hand on my cheek and brushed it with her thumb. Her actions gave me a great feeling of calmness, and we stayed like that for a while.

"It's time for you to go now," she said. I wanted to stay but I knew I had many people depending on me. She gripped my shoulders, and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead. It was a pleasant feeling. Suddenly, we glowed a bright pink and there was a flash of blinding white light.

My eyes snapped open again. I was on my bed. I sat up and looked around, disorientated. Did my future self really just contact me? I pondered about this question for a few seconds but quickly felt something around my neck. I noticed a silver amulet that wasn't there the night before. Remembering what she had told me, I grabbed it and raised it up so I could take a good look at it. And then I smiled.
