Asriel helped me through the place with buttercups and then through a purple maze-like area he called 'Home'. There was lots of puzzles and strange animals, like Froggit (some sort of frog thing with a flap in-between it's legs) and Moldsmall(jello--just a pile of jello) which wanted to fight me but when they saw Asriel(who's SOUL was for some reason silvery-gray and pointed up, unlike my SOUL, which was red and pointed down), they retreated.
"So--how come all these monsters shy away when they see you?" I asked while Asriel to coak a rock into getting into a line. He ducked his head and I bent down to see that he was blushing.
"Oh...erm...I'm sort of...the only child....of the queen and king of the Underground." He mumbled the last few parts and I stared in shock.
"You're the prince of the entire Underground?" I was flabbergasted. This shy, friendly goat child was a prince. Asriel blushed even more.
"I-I don't usually introduce myself to people like that...it makes monsters see me in a certain way..." He mumbled, walking along the route to his house.
"Also, erm, if you don't mind me asking, what's that locket you wear all about?" I pushed back a lock of hair that strayed into my face. It was a question most people asked, though it wasn't that personal.
"Oh, it was just a gift from my dad for my eleventh birthday." Saying those words, I realized I wasn't ever going to see them again--Mom, Dad, everyone else, nothing. I was stuck here. Just like the miserable monsters trapped in the underground. Asriel nodded and continued walking until we reached a cozy, flat purple house.
"Ah--home!" Asriel grinned and walked slightly faster towards the tidy little house. I tilted my head slightly.
"But wasn't the place we just walked through Home?" I asked, confused. Surely Asriel didn't have two homes. That would be weird. Unless his parents were divorced, well, then it would make sense. Asriel blushed with embarrassment.
"The place we just walked through was Home--with a capital H. This place is my home--where I live." He explained, walking through the door into a cute, cozy room with peach-beige walls.
"Mom should probably be in the kitchen with Dad--making yet another one of her famous Butterscotch-Cinnamon pies." He turned left in the hallway. I followed him reluctantly to find a cozy little living room that same with a table that had three chairs, an armchair, a fireplace, and a bookshelf.
"Mom! Dad! Look at what I found!" Asriel called, running into a room that was behind the living room. Following him, I found two goat people--one with a purple dress and another with a purple cape that had gold epaulets. The purple-dress one turned around, revealing a kind, motherly face covered in white fur, medium-small horns poking out of her head, and long floppy ears. The other one looked the same, except he had long horns and a golden beard. The purple-dress one's eyes widened and she covered her mouth, and the male one's eyes widened immensely.
"Oh my--a human! You must have fallen, come here." I stood there, afraid, until Asriel pushed me forward.
"Don't worry--Toriel's nice." I nodded and nervously stepped forward. Said Toriel reached out and--and hugged me, and I felt a warm, glowing feeling sweep through my body until she let go. When she did let go, all my sores and bruises had just vanished. Like....like magic. I looked down at my hands and then looked back up at Toriel. She was smiling and then she patted my head.
"I am Toriel, and this is my husband, Asgore. I believe you have already met Asriel?" She gestured to the large male goat person beside her, who nodded and waved in acknowledgment, and then she signaled to Asriel, who smiled shyly back.
"Yes--I'm Chara." I said, ducking my head to look at my shoes. What was going to happen next? Would I somehow reach the surface again, perhaps through a very tall ladder? Or would I be sacrificed to Asgore and Toriel's people?
"Wait while I discuss thing with Asgore." Toriel said, patting me again on the head. I looked up to see Toriel turn to her husband. Something small tugged at my arm and I turned to see Asriel pulling gently at my arm.
"C'mon! I want to show you around!" I nodded and he raced off into the house. I ran after him and we stopped at the first door.
"This is my room! Where I sleep and play and stuff like that!" He signaled to the twin-sized bed and the bucket of toys in the corner. He then ran out of the room to a room in the hallway a bit down. He pushed open the door to reveal a small bedroom with a king-sized bed, a bookshelf, and a small table.
"This is Mom and Dad's room! Where they sleep!" He ran down the hallway to a room that was empty except for some boxes.
"And this is the storage room, where we put stuff we don't need anymore." Asriel looked around and then shrugged.
"Kids! Come to the kitchen, please!" A voice called; it wasn't Toriel's, so I guessed it had to be Asgore's. Asriel trotted down the hallway and I followed. Toriel and Asgore were standing in the kitchen, looking at each other and smiling.
"So, after talking about it for a long time--" Asgore said, and then was cut off by an excited outburst by Toriel.
"We have decided to adopt you, Chara!" She said, smiling.
