The cool, cool air did nothing to deter Billy, his rage more, oh so more than enough to supply his body with warmth as he lounged on a branch near the window leading to Tatum's bedroom, listening in on the conversation as it passed through the glass and into the night. A low, almost animalistic growl echoed in Billy's throat, startling a nearby owl into fleeing its perch! <Who,> Billy couldn't believe his eyes! <did it!?> The woman in question, one Reese-Isobel Prescott, the older sister of Sidney Prescott, the eldest daughter of Neil and Maureen Prescott, and the object of Billy's obsession, held a mug in her trembling, trembling hands, her large, doll-like brown eyes locked on Tatum, the left eye bruised and swollen and black.
Clad in only a red, flowy nightgown, Reese looked like she hadn't had a wink of sleep in days -- Billy's expression slowly, oh so slowly softened. The serial killer in the making, donning his costume of choice, was at a loss.
What had gotten into Billy?
The events of the night flashed before Billy's eyes, starting with his donning his costume of choice for the 1st-time, his breaking in to the Prescott estate to claim the life of his intended target, Reese, and... his hiccup. Instead of immediately slipping into Reese's bedroom as per the plan, Billy stopped outside the door, the sounds of shattering glass, rapid footsteps, profanity, and a window being yanked open seeping through the gap under it! <What?> Knife in hand, Billy carefully, oh so carefully slipped into the room... just in time to see Reese, obviously shaken up and covering her left eye with her hands, slip out through her bedroom window!
Shards of glass, courtesy of an array of discarded picture frames, lay scattered about the room, alongside what appeared to be drops of blood -- oh? Billy scooped up the nearest frame and studied the photograph within it, his eyes adjusting to the darkness. It ... was a simple family portrait... or... at least it was a simple family portrait. A red 'X' had been carved into Maureen Prescott's face while Neil, Sidney, and Reese's faces remained intact! Billy tossed the photograph back onto the floor and made his way to the window, just barely, oh so barely able to make out Reese's silhouette as she sprinted down the road to God knows where, her hair whipping wildly in the wind in her wake.
What in the world happened here?
Blood dotted the sill, leading Billy to realize that Reese was, in fact, injured and it made Billy... livid. In one swift movement, Billy slipped out the window and sprinted for his car, parked under a nearby streetlight, practically launched himself into It, and sped down the road, looking for Reese, his eyes peeled and his mind racing a mile a minute!
The trail led Billy... to Tatum's house? Pulling to a stop just before another streetlight, Billy watched as Reese raised a hand to ring the bell, the other flush against the door, almost as if meant to stabilize her, her left foot braced against the porch and her right foot raised slightly, oh so slightly in the air, covered in... blood. After some time, the front door cracked open and someone out of Billy's line of sight ushered Reese through the threshold, leaving Billy to sit in his car, unsure of what to do next. Hands on the dash, Billy stared at his reflection in the rearview mirror. What? What? What had caused Reese to do what she did to Maureen's face in that photograph? What?
Enough of this!
The car dipped ever, ever so slightly as Billy got out of it and made his way to the Riley estate, using the shadows that danced across the yard as a shield of sorts, his eyes locked on the window leading to Tatum's room. Billy scaled the tree beside the window with ease, his cloak, shockingly, not hindering his movement in the slightest, perched atop a large, thick branch just under the window, seeking answers to his questions.
Tatum helped Reese into bed, made her way over to the awitch by the door, and flipped it causing darkness to befall the room, before climbing into bed with Reese. Stiff as a board, Billy stretched and jumped down to the ground below. <I'll be back for you, Reese-Isobel Prescott.> Under the guise of ever-moving shadows, Billy disappeared into the night.
