CAROLINE PACED NERVOUSLY, HER ACTIONS DRAWING THE ATTENTION OF EVERY OTHER PERSON IN THE ROOM.

Katherine rolled her eyes, zeroing in on the blonde. "Caroline, do you think if a vampire loses a limb, it grows back?"

She paused, briefly, facing Katherine confusedly. "I don't know. Why?"

"Because I'm going to rip your feet off,"

Caroline gives Katherine a glare, but looks around at the rest of their expectant looks and sighs apologetically. "Sorry, guys, I'm just– what do we do now? Elena's dead, Klaus broke the curse. Everything's over."

"There's always something to do in Mystic Falls, Caroline," Damon raised his bourbon in her direction, taking a swig of the bitter drink.

She drags a hand across her face, throwing herself down on the empty couch. "School's out for the summer, Matt and my mom are shunning me, Elena is dead, Bonnie's probably hiding away trying to figure out a way to kill all of us, and Klaus has been a werewolf for over two days now. There's absolutely nothing to do."

Damon sits up, looking at the teenage vampire with knowing concern. "I don't know what the plan is right now, other than we wait on Klaus to shift back to his normal, less-hairy self and fight over who's going to check on my angsty brother."

She heaves a sigh, but a small smile lifts her downturned lips.

"We fight,"

Rosemary's voice startles them all, and they turn to look at the woman who's just joined them in the living room. She looks at Caroline, but her eyes dart to all of them. "We fight, because there will always be another problem, and there will always be an enemy. We don't run," She gives Katherine a pointed look. "We don't abandon the people we care about, even if they're a pain in the ass," Her eyes shift to Damon. "And we stay together. Because right now, we are all we have, and that makes us a family."

She smiles, and sighs, stepping further into the room. "Even if our family consists of murderous vampires and hybrids, and doppelgängers. Whatever happens to us, we'll handle it together. Because if we don't stick together after all of this, there's no way we all survive. We will always be better off together."

There's a silence that settles over the room, and then Kol raises his glass with a slight cheer. "To being better off together."

Elijah chuckles at his brother, raising his own glass. "Always and forever."
