2: The Sandlot

~Third POV~
   It was morning and you were finishing up breakfast.
"Thanks mom, that was delicious." You got up and washed your dish and headed upstairs to grab your bat to practice your swings. It was rather warm outside, cloudy but warm. You grabbed a ball from your bag that was hollow so that way you wouldn't brake any windows, and threw it up and you hit it. It went over your fence and onto the other side of the street where Small's house was.
Welp.. I better go get that.
You ran out the gate and grabbed your ball but just as you were about to head back you stopped to a voice that called out to you.
"Hey y/n!" It was Benny.
"Hey Benny."
"I'm about to get Smalls so we can play ball at the sandlot again, would you like to go with us this time?"
"Yea, I'll let my mom know!"
You ran to your doorway as Benny got Smalls.
"Hey ma! I'm gonna play ball with the guys from yesterday!"
"Okay don't stay too late!"
You grabbed your glove and met Smalls and Benny waiting for u on the other side of the street.
"Alright let's go!"

You guys finally made it to the sandlot, it was a vast grassy and sandy area with an old dugout and fencing.
"Hey who's this girl?" Said a kid with curly blond hair and a striped shirt,
"This is y/n, y/n this is Ham, Squints, Yeah-Yeah, Timmy, Tommy, Bertram, and DeNunez."
As Benny was reciting their names they all spit on the floor. You stared at the ground with little disgust shown on your face.
"Hi, I'm y/n, nice to meet you."
"Benny, please don't tell me you brought her here to play."
"I did actually, we are all gonna play."
"C'mon Benny! She's a girl!"
"And what!?" You blurted. "A girl Can play if she wants to, I've played softball for 12 years and baseball for 2, I think I can handle it."
Ham just stared at you in disbelief.
"Alright then, show me your stuff."
You nodded and grabbed the bat that Benny was handing you, you stepped up the box and got ready in position.
"Show me what you got!" You yelled at the DeNunez.
He wound up and threw the ball, it felt like slow motion, it got closer, closer and then..
CLACK
The ball went flying through the sky like a comet, you ran, and you ran fast. You went to first, then, Second, third, and finally home.
"Told you I could do it!"
They all stared at you with wide eyes even Benny was bewildered.
"H-how!?" Ham looked at you with wide eyes.
"Experience." You simply said. "Yea.. let's play some ball!" DeNunez finally said, "I knew it, the whole time."
"Nice job y/n!" Benny came up to you with a grin on his face, "you run pretty fast by the way."
"Thanks! I was the fastest in my softball team."
He looked at you for a couple more seconds and turned to grab his bat from the ground. He took another peak at you and you smiled back.
Wow
You never noticed how beautiful his eyes were up til now with a mix of greens and browns, hazel. You tuned around and took your place on center field next to Smalls on right field.

It was 6 pm and everyone started heading back to their houses. You walked with Benny and Smalls with you in between them.
"Wow y/n you're actually really good at baseball!" You smiled at Small's compliment, "thanks!"
"Hey well, I'll see you guys tomorrow at 8:00 am for more baseball. Bye Smalls, and bye y/n ya did good." He smiled at you again for god knows how many times and you smiled back, of course. He did a small handshake with you and left jogging to his house. You let out a small sigh and continued walking with Smalls.
"Something tells me Benny kinda likes you."
Your eyes widened at his statement and you turned to look at him.
"I doubt it, we just met."
"And? Could be the L word at first sight."
"Leprosy? Lice?"
"No y/n!" He giggled, you knew what he was talking about but you weren't sure if you believed in those things, it happened to mom but who knows.
"It's okay Smalls, I know what you're trying to say, but only time will tell."
"Do you like him?"
Did you?
"Umm, well, I think he had nice eyes and so far a good personality but I'm not sure if I like him... yet."
"Yet?" Smalls eyed you with his eyebrows raised.
"Yes, yet." You laughed at his facial expressions.
"Well alright, but I gotta go, we made it to my house, bye y/n!"
"Bye Smalls!"
You departed from him and walked into the gate and saw the mess of white practice balls all over the ground. You groaned and began to curse the fact you forgot to put them away. Once you finished that up you went into your house and put all the stuff away.
"Hey y/n, how was baseball?"
"It was fun actually! These boys underestimated my power and I showed them what I could really do."
"That's good, want some cookies?"
"Yesss ma'ammm!"
"They're in the tray by the microwave."
"Okay thanks mom!"
You grabbed 3 chocolate chip cookies and went upstairs to your room and ate them as you stared at the sky through your window. The moon was bright and light poured in your room that was still awaiting the stuff from moving. You let out a sigh and headed to brush your teeth. Once you finished you put on your PJ's and tucked yourself in your sleeping bag and rested. You were at ease and for some reason, your mind drifted to Benny.
Wow that smile.. and those eyes.. what if I do like him? What if he likes me? No, it's too early in our friendship. Only time will tell.
You finally drifted off into a deep slumber.
