Completely Broken

Chapter 10

Sunday rolled around really quickly. I was excited but also nervous. This is my first date ever and I can't screw it up. Jace still hasn't texted me the details of our date.

I went to the kitchen to make breakfast but my mom had already started. Usually, she's on her laptop checking emails about her clients. Then my dad walks in without looking at his phone. My parents are actually trying to be better.

"Hey honey how did you sleep?''

"I slept great thanks for asking dad." We sat down as a family and ate breakfast. It was perfect to have my parents back. I nearly cried when I saw my mom in the kitchen this morning.

Hopefully they love Jace. Oh I need to tell them that he asked me out. Still slightly scared of what they'll say or do. What if they don't approve of him? Okay calm down Elena you're fine it will be okay.

"Hey, guys I have to tell you some important news. Please hear me out before you say anything."

"Sure honey you can tell us anything."

"Jace asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. He also wants to take me out on a date tonight."

They both looked at me and didn't say a word. The silence is really eating at me. My mom was the first to speak. "That's great Elena I'm happy for you. I can't wait to meet the guy that has your heart." My dad didn't say anything but nodded in agreement. Well that was better than him rejecting the idea of me dating.

A weight had been lifted off my shoulders. They approved and that's all I needed. I hugged them both before going to my room and changing. Calling Jace so he can give me information about our date.

He picked up in less than a minute. "Hello, Elena what can I do for you?''

"I need information about our date so I know what to wear. So what time do I need to be ready?''

"Dress semi-formal and I'll be there around six to come get you. See you then Elena."

"See you." We hung up. I have eight hours until he shows up. In the meantime I'll read and finish homework. The homework only took an hour so I moved on to reading my favorite book.

Unearthly is a fantastic book to read because the guy character's relationship is so cute. I'm such a fangirl when it comes to this series. Time didn't matter to me when I was reading it always flew by quickly. Hours went by as I continued to read.

I heard knocking on my door tearing me from my precious characters. My phone read four in the afternoon. Wow I only had two hours to get ready. Time sure does fly by when you have a good book. Mom peeked into my room with a box in her hand.

"Hey mom, what do you need?''

"Nothing sweetie I just came to give you this." She hands me the box anxiously waiting for me to open it. Slowly I opened the top and saw a cute red dress that went to my knees. "I thought you needed a dress to wear tonight."

The dress was so pretty. This coming from a girl who doesn't wear them often. "Thanks mom I love it." I hug her and go into the bathroom and change. What will Jace think of me being in a dress? The last time I wore one was the first grade. After that I decided they were too uncomfortable to wear.

My mom had tears in her eyes when I came out. She even thought it would help if she did my make-up. We went into her room and there she did my eyeshadow and lipstick. By the time she finished it was time for Jace to arrive.

He was finally going to meet my parents officially. We all sat in the living room waiting for his arrival. The doorbell rang and I got up to answer the door. Jace was wearing a navy blue button up shirt with black dress pants.
