A Foolish Deal

Venice's Point Of View:

I giggled as Aquarius in her animal form, a lionfish, swim around my head. A successful attempt to cheer me up.

It was a surprising turn of events. After I helped the faeries, I went back to the palace, only to hear the maids whispering. Weird. It was then that I knew that Aquarius had followed me in her human form when Sakura asked on who the lady behind me was. Knowing it would cause unnecessary chaos, I answered her that she was a faerie.

Of course, I knew what brother meant when he asked if I discussed this with father. The diablos and faeries never got along, even in Maria's historical record. I had already talked about it with Papa, and he decided to disguise Aquarius as my faerie. He even distressed how it was such bad timing since the prince would be visiting us for a mandatory inspection. In all my life, I've never felt so nervous. I'd be used as a weapon, and papa can't do anything about it. If the diablos find out--

"You shouldn't worry, benefactor. I will make sure they won't be able to detect me." Aquarius stated, interrupting my mental dilemma.

I sighed before giggling as she nuzzles on my cheek.

"Venice-sama, the Prince of Thornvein's carriage has been estimated to arrive in an hour. I request permission to come in." I hear Sakura's voice outside.

Nodding, I reply with a granted. The rules or laws in this world are strict. Maids, butlers, and guards are obliged to ask for permission when they take an action unrelated to their job. They are unable to speak freely or they'll be accused of either blasphemy or disloyalty, unlike in Maria's world. I want to fix all the dishonorable laws. Such as women being treated as objects, and having slavery and prostitution legal. But even so, I know the world can't be perfect. But at least I can make it near to that.

"I heard the prince is good looking Venice-sama," Sakura says giggling as she brushes by fluffy cotton hair. I pout," You know I'm not into romance Sakura. And my chance as empress herein Lussios will disappear if I ever get married to him!" I complain.

"I know I know. But I don't want the Young lady to grow old and alone." She replies, concern evident in her voice.

Sighing, I look at the vanity mirror," I won't grow old alone Sakura. I have you, mama, papa, big brother, and the country. You don't need to worry. Plus, I have Aquarius by my side now!" I urged smiling helplessly.

She smiles back, shaking her head as she starts to style my white hair into a waterfall braid. Decorating it with black gems and gold flowers. I don't know how, but Sakura is legit talented.

"Ne Sakura, why'd be a maid? You could've been a merchant. You're great at prepping, so why be a maid?" I ask as she finishes with some lace on the braid part.

"It was to repay for your mother's kindness. She saved my life, and it would be dishonorable to not use it to serve her. But don't take it the wrong way, I willingly did so." Sakura answers, standing up to prepare a dress for me.

Ah. I forgot that Sakura had been saved from her abusive parents by mama.

Sakura knew my taste, as she picked a dress with a green victorian skirt that reached my knees with a white blouse with a brown ribbon that was attached at the center under it. Music notes colored in white was printed on the right side of the skirt part. And to top it all off, my tiara that was silver. And had pearls as its gemstone.
