Just as they got back from the Philippines — to them it was a trip that was memorable — but Chaeyoung soon had a goal to work towards.
She got a call. It was from Irene.

She was told to meet her at her parents' house.
Chaeyoung was reluctant at first, but if it helped with her family's secrets then she'll do it.

Standing outside the door, she stopped for moment.
What if it's not worth it?
What if they find out?
The questions bugged her way before she arrived.

Then, the door opened.
"Good. You're here." Irene dragged her inside into the modern living room.
"Where are your parents?" Chaeyoung asked.
"They're working — plus it gives us time to search around." Irene said, "I'll take the upstairs you can search the downstairs."

Chaeyoung was left to do her own searching whilst, both of them didn't find much.
But when it came to a door that was behind some furniture leading to something, Chaeyoung knew something would be in there.
The thing is how is she going to get in?

"Irene!" She called as Irene came running down the stairs.
"What, did you find something?"
"There's a door and it's locked. Do you have any keys they may use." Chaeyoung said.
"Maybe. If not, I do have a hammer." Irene laughed at herself.
"Funny, but I don't want to make up another excuse for injuring myself again."

They kept searching for a key, they didn't know where to look.
Then, Irene stumbled upon a drawer in her parents' office, a small key that she had never seen before.
Rushing downstairs, she inserted the key directly into the key hole.
It fit perfectly.

"Where did you find that?" Chaeyoung asked from the side, leaning against the wall.
"In my parents' office, looks like they weren't keeping this secret safe." Irene cracked the door open and stairs spiralled downwards into the dark abyss.
They pulled out their phone flashlights and carried on.

"I didn't know your parents have a secret dungeon." Chaeyoung scoffed.
"Hey...we don't know if it's a dungeon." Irene kept her mouth shut.
The young girl grew even more keen to discover where the stairs led and when they did, they solely found a peculiar room.
A light barely lit the room, but it was enough to see.

"Awfully nice." Chaeyoung said.
"Yeah, lets just find something and get out." Irene folded her arms as Chaeyoung searched around, a table was placed at the far back of the room with a cardboard box on top of it.
Whilst she scrambled through the box the only interesting item that she found was a picture.
To be specific it was of Mr and Mrs Bae and her parents, Mr and Mrs Son, their cheery manner made Chaeyoung a bit jealous.

She wanted a picture just like that again, it was too unfortunate that didn't have time.

"Chae?" Irene spoke.
Chaeyoung shuddered at the thought and kept looking. That's when she found a note with letters that were cut out from different colourful magazines.

The money that we want!
You have two days till we will take action.
You know what happens!
You and that Son company will pay!

"What is that?" Irene came over and inspected what she held.
"It's... a ransom note." Chaeyoung paused, "But why?"
Irene saw the distress in her voice, she placed her hand over her shoulder in comfort.
"Your family is rich, anyone could have sent this."
"But with your family? We weren't in business with each other."
"People do whatever to get money." Irene said.

Chaeyoung felt betrayed in a way.
"My parents were in some... shady business."
"Same with my parents, but this is only the first part. We should find more clues on what they were hiding." Irene urged.
"Why aren't you surprised?"
"It's my parents, I don't expect anything from them." Her eyes shifted.
"Sure... I'll contact you for our next meeting. I need to think — plus University is around the corner." Chaeyoung sighed.

"Right, take your time." Irene patted her back before going upstairs.
