Arabelle Warren
"John?" The melodic voice said curiously, "It is nice to see you here."
"Sersh?" John replied back, sounding more shocked than anything.
I was standing behind Julian and Isaac, trying to push past them to see, but everyone was so crowded around the front door, I couldn't. I nearly growled out loud.
"Perhaps I should have called you beforehand," the woman, Saoirse, laughed melodically. "I didn't know you would still be in Kauai."
"My wife and I just got back," he told her, "this afternoon, actually."
"Funny how the universe works," she said, and she let out another gentle, velvet soft laugh. I nearly melted. What the fuck?
"I do apologize. Your receptionist at the Institute gave me the address to the pack house, I figured I would find you there. They happened to find me first." I assumed she motioned towards Cass and Dante, because Dante chuckled.
"My receptionist..." Jada paused, and then groaned, "Gen! Jesus Christ... I'm sorry," she said sheepishly, "she's a new hire."
The velvet voice replied back, "I figured as much, it is really no problem at all. I am having a supernatural problem at home in Oregon and the Oregon Institute has refused to help. I remembered John was in close connection with the Head of an Institute, and I made my way here. I do hope I'm not intruding on anything... I can come back at a more convenient time, if necessary."
"Don't be silly." This time, it was Isabelle who spoke. "Why don't you come in? Cass, go grab your kids from the car before they lose their minds!" The two best friends laughed together, and I heard my mom open the door wider. I heard a footstep and assumed the woman had stepped inside.
"Right, we can discuss this in depth in my office, if that is alright?" Jada proposed.
"Most certainly," the unexpected guest replied, "I do apologize again, I promise not to take up too much of your time."
Julian and Isaac moved out of the way then to allow my mom to lead the woman to her study, which was just around the corner. I, however, found myself unable to move.
The woman must have been maybe 5'8 or 5'9, a couple inches taller than my 5'6. She wasn't super thin, like my moms were. There was no gap between her thighs, and they touched in the light-wash jeans she was wearing. They were high waisted and hugged her hips delectably. Her shirt, a simple cotton long-sleeve shirt that dipped into a V-neck and buttoned up at the front was a light grey colour and was tucked into her jeans. Her shirt hugged her body, and I could easily tell she was incredibly fit.
Shamefully, my eyes found the dip in her shirt, and I saw the outline of her breasts. I clenched my legs uncomfortably at the mere sight.
Her skin was pale, and it became clear to me that she, like John, was a Vampire. Her collarbones were visible, but not insanely so, and she wore a gold necklace, the pendant resting in the dip between them.
Saoirse Kane was a redheaded woman, her hair just surpassing strawberry blonde and taking a ginger tone. I'd never paid any mind to gingers before – well, I'd never paid much mind to anyone – but she had captured my attention and I was not entirely sure if she would ever let it go.
Her lips were pink and full, her nose straight, and I glanced up to her eyes and froze.
Mate.
The anger rose in my throat before I even had a chance to stop it. Her eyes, the palest grey I'd ever seen, widened in surprise. Merely looking at her made my anger multiply, and I began to shake intensely.
