The soft glow from the fire from the Inn's hearth was welcoming and warm. It had started snowing the previous night and now it covered the ground in thick blankets.
As the snow began to softly drift to the ground, the party began to file out of their rooms.
"Snowing pretty hard, isn't it?" Took turned his head slightly towards Gwing for a moment before worriedly checking on his familiar under his hat. Zenya was shivering, coiled up tightly into a ball.
"Awh... Zenya... I'm sorry-" he gently scooped her off his head and cradled him in his arms.
"... Will she be alright?" Gwing spoke up after a moment.
"Yeah yeah.. We shouldn't worry too much. She might've spent too long in a cold spot. Happens to the best of us." He sighed, walking over towards the warm hearth and set his hat down before placing Zenya on top of it. His auburn hair was tied back into a small brush like ponytail, his bangs framing his face while his blue and faded hues flickered with the reflected firelight.
Zenya made herself comfortable on his hat, settling into a nice position before napping.
"Do you like the snow, Gwing?" Rook asked, eyes focused on the fire ahead of them.
"... What?"
"Do you like the snow? Have you ever played in it?"
"What kind of a question is that?"
Rook laughed slightly, shaking his head. His hands were up in front of him as he spoke. "Ah... I'm sorry. Another time, another time."
Gwing took another look outside the window, watching the snow slowly drift to the ground. Rook was humming to Zenya, his pitch being slightly off key, but not too far off. Other than the humming, the silence was peaceful. It wasn't tense and Gwing knew that she could be honest to Rook. She rolled her shoulders, not realizing how tense she had been this entire time.
"I guess I never really thought about it," Gwing answered after a while. Rook turned his head upwards to look at her, giving her his full attention.
"I've been in the snow, yes. But I didn't really think about messing around."
"How about we change that?" Rook suggested with a playful grin.
"What are you suggesting?"
"While Zenya warms up, we can head outside and walk for a bit." He stood, adjusting his poncho as he did so. "Since the rest of the party is here, I trust that they'll look after her while we're out. She might even get a few treats!" He chuckled, looking down at Zenya again.
Ah... When we come back she'll probably be stuffed with sausage links."
Gwing chuckled slightly, looking at the sleeping dragon for a moment before focusing on the wizard. The love in his eyes was easy to see, causing a slight smile to tug at her lips.
"Sounds like a plan. I don't have anything warm though." She responded as she folded her arms across her chest.
"Surely the innkeeper has something? Wouldn't hurt to ask." Rook had a dorky smile on his face as he turned to face her again.
"You're really set on this, huh?"
.
"Maybe a little," Rook shrugged. "I haven't played in the snow for ages.""Alright. Let's start with a stroll first. I'm not sure how deep it is."
"Shall we then?" Rook offered Gwing his hand as she took it with a smile.
"Ah... You're such a dork."
