Cold Feet (Paddy x Malark) (College AU)

Ding!

Party looks up from his homework and glances over at his phone. He picks it up and opens the notification, a small smile forming on his face as he lets out an amused hum.

"Heyy! You get in contact with Mal yet?"

Paddy's fingers tapped away at his screen, shaking his head slightly as he sent his response.

"Nope, I didn't get his number or anything so I don't know how I'd go about contacting him."

On Rosa's end, it was a slow night at the tavern. She rolled her eyes before letting out a chuckle.

"Geez Paddy, do you always get cold feet?"

She sets her phone down for a moment as Mal enters the bar with a small wave.

"Singing tonight?" She leaned against the table as he walked by.

The masked singer shrugged, adjusting the scarf around his neck.

"I was planning to. Unless you have any other jobs for me? This singing thing is cool and all but I need a little more than a couple dollars."

"Have you ever thought about working here? You'd fit right in," She smiled, placing a hand on her hip. "I'd have to take a look in the back to see if we have any costumes for you, but I think you might enjoy it here."

Rosa's phone buzzed against the table.

"I'll let you think about that for a bit. Break a leg tonight, yeah?"

"Yeah, whatever."

Rosa hummed as she unlocked her phone once more, reading the message from Paddy.

"It's not like that! It just seemed out of place"

"This is a bar, Paddy. People hit on each other all the time. You gotta relax man."

Paddy didn't respond for a bit. His phone lit up with another notification.

"Tread lightly, have a little hope, and you'll be fine. Shoot your shot man.

Besides, you might see him around more often. So you'll have your chance."

Paddy smiled a bit.

"Do you know if he'll be there tomorrow?"

Rosa grinned, letting out another small chuckle.

"Atta boy. Small steps."

Her fingers flew across the screen as she typed her next response.

"Yep! He'll be here. This time you better say something or I'll give him your number myself."
