Charlotte didn't know what Edward wanted to talk to her about, but she could tell by the tone of his voice that it wasn't good. It didn't help that he was taking a while to come and sit with her, and in the minutes it took she couldn't help but overthink- she was a virgo after all."What? Is everything okay?" She couldn't help but speak before he even sat down.
Edward pulls a sad smile from where he was stood, maybe he wasn't going to sit after all. "If I'm honest no, everything isn't okay."
Charlottes face fell. "If its because of what happened in there I'm sorry, thats not me, I just-"
"-it's not because of that."
"Oh?"
Edward shuffled awkwardly on his feet. "It's not you its me-" Charlotte couldn't help the scoff that left her mouth at that.
"- I just can't do this anymore. It would be better for you if we're just friends." Edward kept his tone gentle trying not to upset the girl."We weren't anything more than friends, were we?"
Of course they were more than friends, or to Charlotte they were anyway. She thought the two were going to be the power couple of the school.
"No we weren't, you're right."
"Of course I'm right, I'm a virgo after all." Charlotte joked with Edward, hoping this would cover up her sadness. To a human it would- Charlotte was an excellent actress. But to Edward, he could tell she was faking it. He could also read her thoughts which helped. "Is that all then? If it is I'm gonna go."
Edward just nodded his head in response, hating himself for ruining it with the girl he'd waited his whole life for.
"Bye then." And that was that. Charlotte turned on her heel and walked away from the pale boy who held her affections.
The Cullens watched the red head storm past their table, all of them looking at her with sadness in their eyes.
She didn't deserve any wrong done to her, she'd never wronged anyone else. But they knew this was for the best- well Rosalie and Jasper did anyway. She didn't deserve their life, she deserved one filled with happiness, a loving husband, children and as many dogs as she wanted, then she deserved a Notebook style death in the arms of her lover. They watched her storm past her usual lunch table, which was now only occupied by Eric, Tyler and Angela, who all stared at Charlotte as she now practically ran out of the food court. Which caused the always loyal Angela to chase after her.
Angela had been looking for Charlotte for ten minutes and had tried countless empty toilets and classrooms with no luck. That was until she opened her sixth toilet door.
"Get out!...... please." There was no mistaking it was Charlotte, the Brits were always polite. Normally Angela would laugh at Charlotte for the pleasantries but she could hear how her voice cracked and how she sniffled after speaking.
"Charl, it's me." Angela spoke as if she was talking to a little child.
Charlotte didn't say anything in response, she just unlocked the cubicle door to let Angela in. She walked towards the occupied cubicle and once she saw Charlotte her heart broke. "Oh baby, what's wrong?"
Angela made her way towards her and scooped her into a hug, feeling Charlottes head snuggle into her chest. After a few minutes of sniffling Charlotte spoke,
"I thought he liked me Angie... I really did, b-but he can't have done."
"Oh Charlie, don't get upset over him, he's-"
Charlotte removed her head from Angelas chest. "-I know what you're going to say and he is worth it. He is. I liked him so so much. Maybe I'm being stupid because I've only known him a few weeks, but," Charlotte took a deep breath before continuing, "I thought it was my time, I thought I was finally going to be that girl. I look around and everyone else is so happy with their boyfriends, but I aren't. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with me? Is it the way I look, or how I act, or are other girls just so much better than me. I just want someone to want me and to love me, but no one ever has. Am I just not good enough?"
By the end of Charlotte's rant she was a blubbering mess, and Angela was only just holding herself together. It pained her to see the girl everyone admired so much and who seemed so strong, to be so broken.
Maybe Charlotte wasn't as perfect as everyone thought.
Angela grabbed Charlotte's face and looked her straight in the eyes. "Pull yourself together and don't ever say any of that stuff again. If you do I will personally beat you up, do you hear me?" Charlotte nodded her head.
"What you've just said now is the stupidest thing I've ever heard you say. Everyone in the whole damn school wants you. And Edward Cullen is the silliest boy to every exist if he doesn't. You're worth tens of him and just you wait until he realises that. Because you, Charlotte Olivia Smith, are one in 7 billion."By the end of the uplifting speech Charlotte had a happy smile on her face and just sat and hugged her best friend for what felt like hours. Until she decided that it was probably best for her to head home, not feeling like staying at school any longer.
Angela walked her to her car and waved her off until she was out of sight. Then turned around and looked up at the school.
"Now where are you, Edward Cullen?"
ugh i love angela so much, she deserves so much more appreciation <33
