It was the next day and Mary Margaret had actually left her house. As an apology for being a 'home wreaker', she had signed up for the Miners Day Committee and was trying her best to help out.
I was sitting at Granny's having a cooked breakfast when I saw her enter Granny's. She looked absolutely petrified and was clinging to her clipboard like her life depended on it.
"Excuse me," Mary Margaret began. Most people continued to talk, but I put down my phone and listened in. When she saw that not many people had stopped, she tried to clear her throat again. "Can I have everyone's attention, please?" That got everyone to turn and stare at her, not the best start. "I'm sorry to interrupt your morning, but I just wanted to remind everyone that a very special occasion is upon us--Miners Day. As always, the nuns of Storybrooke are hoping that everyone will get involved and will help sell their exquisite candles. All we need are a few energetic volunteers. So who wants to join me?" Mary Margaret asked.
To no ones surprise, nobody said anything so once again, I had to step in.
"I'll do it," I said, and Mary Margaret smiled back at me mouthing a thank you. I ignored all of the glares I was getting from the others and went back to my food.
Mary Margaret came up to my table and handed me the slip. Customers all around began whispering. I wonder what about?
"Thank you so much for doing this," Mary Margaret whispered.
"Of course, you're my best friend," I smiled back. "Any luck getting any other volunteers?" I asked, while I filled out the slip.
"Take a guess," Mary Margaret sighed.
"It'll brush over. Just give them time," I reassured her, filling in the bit about my allergies. "Why do they need to know about my food allergies?" I asked.
"God knows. I just hope it blows over quick," Mary Margaret said.
"You know, if you need me to, I'll go and dye my hair a bright pink or whatever if it takes all the attention off you," I joked.
"I think blue's more your colour" Mary Margaret laughed.
"Blue it is," I said smirking.
"Oh God no, you don't actually have to do it," Mary Margaret said, thinking I was about to go and do it.
"I wasn't going to. Not yet anyway," I replied, handing her the slip.
"Thank you again," She said, before offering a small smile and leaving.
Once she left, all of the stares turned to me. I tried to ignore them by picking up my phone and scrolling through my messages but it was really beginning to bug me.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," I said loudly to all the staring people, without looking up from my phone.
That stopped them all as they turned back to their drinks.

After I'd finished my food, I left Granny's and headed down to the town hall to lend a hand.
I went into the hall and saw Mary Margaret sitting at a table, all the nuns staying away from her. I walked up to her and pulled up a chair.
"What are we doing?" I asked.
"You came," Mary Margaret said excitedly.
"Of course I came," I replied confused.
"I was worried you might have just done that to make a point," Mary Margaret admitted.
