Fuck buddies were all we are. The biggest secret I kept at the moment. Living in the Northside when I did NOT fit in was only making me a target for Southsiders.
I mean it's not that I would fit in better with the ghoulies but I sure did act like one sometimes. All of them knew me and loved me for my style and attitude. I would be over there a lot. At first i was just coming over for an hour, fuck, and then leave. Or we would meet at the Southside corner store and go in the back. But ever since we got closer I've been hanging out a little bit more with them. Every Friday night I would head over and spend the night into Saturday. Then to try my hardest to sneak out and past sunny side trailer park without any serpents finding & disowning me. Yeah. A serpent and a Ghoulie. Kind of scary...
At the moment I was with Betty, Archie, Veronica and Jughead at Pops. Their classic meeting point which they invite me too after school a lot of times. I was Veronica's cousin so she just dragged me along a lot of the time. It was summer and the diner was packed, the milkshakes always cooled people off. We were all chatting and having a good time while me and Jughead would also have side conversations about the serpents and his father. Since we were both serpents, he was one that I connected with most, besides Veronica.
The 80s hits were quieted in the ChockLit shoppe and overrun with loud hard rock and yelling. Two old (but badass) cars pulled up and practically everyone here looked out the window.
"Ghoulies." Archie said worriedly.
I bit my lip and turned from looking outside to raising my eyes to Jugheads.
"You think they're here for us?" I ask him curiously but with no worry. Jughead recently became serpent king, making him a new target for the Ghoulies.
He gave a simple shrug "I'm not sure... let's hope not."
8 Ghoulies jumped out of their cars and the music died down, the jukebox now giving out its music once again. I spotted Malachai, sighed and looked away, scared of what he might do if he sees me.
The whole diner gave their full attention to the men as they entered laughing and pushing each other around like hormonal teenage boys.
I turned in my seat and looked at them again. Malachai didn't notice me and went and sat down. Although the rest of the ghoulies all looked around and noticed me, sending a smile my way and when seeing all of my North and Southside friends with me, raising an eyebrow or smirking, knowing Mal wasn't gonna enjoy the sight of it.
I smiled back at them without the rest of my booth noticing and turned back around.
Veronica scoffed and muttered "animals". I held in my laugh and just smiled a little, earning a smile from Jughead as well. Apparently Archie and Betty were so concerned with them being here they didn't even notice. The Ghoulies took up two booths and Verne (my second closest creepy friend) was sitting next to Malachai. Apparently all of them would take turns to look over at our booth and smile/talk about us. Archie was the most angered by this (as expected). Ever since Jughead became king he's been a lot more professional and not wanting as much bloodshed.
"Why would they come here of all places? They have their bars and clubs in the town of the dead. As well as their jingle jangle." The redhead says with a stern face.
I chuckled a little and my unproblematic ass said "It's fine guys, they're probably just here to enjoy Pops milkshakes just like we are." Veronica and Jughead nodded but Archie and Betty both exchanged a look of concern and fear.
Oh northsiders.
I turned around and noticed Malachai and Verne staring at me, and one of them sending a wink my way. I'm sure you can guess who. I roll my eyes, smile and turn back around to notice my gang had started a new conversation about Betty's dance at the Wyrm. A topic we haven't brought up till now because it was so awkward then. Turns out Archie didn't even know about it.
