When I wake up my head is still throbbing from the night before. I guess that operation really screwed up my brain. I walk over to the door and wiggle to handle. Locked, of course. I guess no one wants me wandering around, or they don't use doors because of all the teleporting. I see another door on the other side of the room so I walk over, looking for an exit. The door leads me into a bathroom and a huge mirror shows my reflection in front of me. I flinch at the reflection shown in front of me. Whoa! I look like Medusa without the snakes! I quickly lock the door behind me and step into the shower, trying to fix the problem. Not that I need to lock the door because of all the teleporting! Hopefully no one sees me naked!
I step out of the shower feeling refreshed and definitely cleaner. I see a huge fluffy towel hanging on the wall so I rush over and wrap it around my body. I'm being hugged by a giant teddy bear! I step out of the bathroom and head over to the bed. There is a light pink dress on the bed along with a note. I pick up the note and read: I heard the shower, so won't disturb you. Don't worry! But I picked out this dress for you for your training. Please meet me in the garden in about ten minutes. The door is now unlocked. I look forward to helping you find your power. Welcome to Xena! -Ty.
So I guess Ty came into my room. But why did he pick out a pink dress for training? Not thinking too much into it, I slip the pink dress over my head and put on some white flats. I quickly put my hair up into a tight bun so that I don't look completely terrible. I carefully make my way over to the door and slowly open it, peeking into the hall. The hallway is empty so I step out into the light. The hall is completely white and reflects the sun from the windows, blinding me. I shield my eyes as I work my way down the stairs, almost tripping and falling at the bottom. I look around for something that resembles a garden. In front of me is a huge ballroom with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a grand piano in the corner. On my left is a hallway that looks like it leads to a kitchen. I turn to my right and gasp as I see the garden Ty was talking about.
The hallway is made entirely of glass and leads to an indoor garden with roses and daisies woven together to line the entrance. The colors of the flowers jump out at me in reds, oranges, purples, and blues. As I walk down the glass hallway I can smell all of the flowers mixing together into an aroma of wonderful. I hear a chuckle from behind me and a turn around, embarrassed. There is a boy that looks my around my age standing behind me. He's looking at me though a bit of the brown shaggy hair that hangs over his eyes. He looks me up and down, smirking. 'What?" I ask.
"Nothing. It's just funny how surprised you are at all of this." he says as he gestures to the garden.
"What? And you weren't when you first saw this room?" I ask sarcastically.
"I wouldn't know. I was just a child when I first saw this room. This is my childhood home."
I pause and stare at him for a bit before asking "So you're Tyler?"
"Yes, and I seem to have made the right choice requesting to train you," he responds.
"You requested to train me? Why?" I ask, confused.
"Because I think you have real potential and a good spirit. The people with good spirits have the best powers. I look forward to helping you find yours."
"Looking forward to it," I respond cautiously, not sure if I believe this guy.
"So how about some breakfast before we start? I have a spread set up in the back of the garden."
"I guess I could eat. I mean if it's already set up."
I know it seems that I am acting like a total bitch but I just need to stay on task. I can't be flirting around. I just want to find my power and save Tyler and his brother. So technically I am saving the world. I sit down at a table on the far side of the garden with Tyler. Both of us stay silent as we eat our breakfast. The french toast is actually really good and the crepes are "to die for". After I finish my meal, Ty stands up. "So, should we start with your training? I'm sure you're dying to discover your power."
"Of course, I've been waiting for this my whole life." I respond, standing up to walk over to him.
He reaches out to grab my shoulder and turn me around. "What do you think you're doing?" I yelp as I turn around.
"I'm spotting you. You have to focus on the power deep inside of you. Trying to find your power exerts a bunch of energy which causes most students to faint. We wouldn't want you hitting your head would we?" he responds, calmly.
"Oh, okay." I say quietly as I turn back around.
"Now close your eyes, and focus on your inner self. Look deep inside yourself and think about what drives you. What pushes you to do your best and achieve your dreams?"
I close my eyes and focus. With my eyes closed it feels like I'm about to fall asleep. I wish I hadn't gotten up so early this morning. "Focus your mind on what drives you." Tyler says from behind me.
"How do you know I'm not?" I ask.
"I can feel you drifting into other thoughts."
"I'm sorry it's just hard, I'm really tired."
I concentrate and think about my parents urging me to succeed as I squeeze my eyes shut. After what feels like forever, I see a glimmer of light. My eyes dash to the light beneath my eyelids. I can feel myself moving towards the light and wonder if this is what is supposed to be happening but Ty doesn't say anything. I continue to travel towards the light and I get closer and closer. I finally reach the brightest spot and I reach out my arms, eyes still closed. My fingers tingle and I feel faint but I keep concentrating. I have to find my power! I feel a slight shock on my chest that makes me open my eyes.
