Hinata's POV (middle school volleyball game)
Standing outside the gym, I stared in excitement and fear at finally being at my very first actual volleyball game. Turning to look beside me I saw my friends Koji and Izumi looking through the doors fear plastered on their faces.
"It'll be-" I cut myself off gulping down the vomit threatening to escape as my stomach flipped over and over. "O-okay... B-be right back..." I stuttered out as I half ran half stumbled to the nearest bathroom. I opened the door clutching my stomach and covering my mouth only to suddenly bump into someone who was just leaving the bathroom.
Looking up I leaped back in fright at the face a very tall black haired male was giving me.
"S-sorry excuse m-me" I managed to stutter out, somehow still in control of my internal frustration at wanting to puke.
"You better be sorry midget. What's with the uniform? Don't tell me you're playing volleyball?" The tall male scoffed as he glared daggers at me. Glaring back and temporarily forgetting my upset stomach I spoke back.
"Of course I am. And I'll win just you wait. I might be 5'3 but I'm 7 foot tall of determination." The other male widened his eyes before quickly scowling at me, a dangerous aura radiating strongly off him.
"Get your head out of the clouds. I'll win and no one will get in my way. Especially not a little shrimp like you who can barely control his nerves." The male spat back, practically shoving me out of the way as he walked out the bathroom.

The moment he left my body instantly reminded my brain of its current condition as it moved on its own to a cubicle and spewed my insides into the toilet. I felt a little better after that but my stomach was still churning as I exited the cubicle after flushing the toilet and washing my hands and face. Slapping me cheeks and staring at myself in the mirror, I nodded my head and focused on the task ahead. Volleyball.

I gently ran my fingertips across my shoulder, keeping in my Itazura always has my back in moments of doubt. It took a couple of years but we finally bonded enough for her to trust me with her as a tattoo on my back - her wings spread out reaching to each shoulder in a majestic fashion. We still have a long way to go before we become extremely compatible with each other but we'll get there.

I took a deep breath as I arrived at the gym doors again noticing Koji and Izumi having mini panic attacks. I rushed over to them doing everything I could to make them calm down.
"Hey hey hey, I'm here now calm down. Just remember, do your best and keep your focus. Take deep breaths just like we practiced." I tried to reassure with a smile but my stomach still thought my precious nervous attack wasn't enough as it continued to twist this way and that.

"Says the guy who ran to the bathroom to puke." Izumi smirked only just dodging my attempt to hit him on his arm.
"Shut up, I'm fine!" I yelled at him just before our junior high was called to the court.

Me and my team ran onto the court, extremely minimal in numbers compared to the other teams that had been before us. I looked at the scoreboard that had been reset, reading the names of which junior highs were up.
Yukigaoka against Kitagawa Daiichi. Once me and the team reached the court I looked across and almost did a double take when I saw the guy from the bathroom on the other side of the court. He attended Kitagawa High?! He obviously noticed me as he turned his entire body to face me, his expression twisted into an intense grimace which I'm guessing was an attempt at an evil smile.

I glared back at him, forcing him to acknowledge that I'd beat him no matter what.
Turning away I gathered my team, having a small pep talk with them before the whistle blew and our game began.

Kageyama's POV
The encounter in the bathroom annoyed me, but it didn't bother me for long as I returned back to my team, certain we'd win our game.
"Oi King!" I cringed at the name but turned to look at my team regardless anyway. "Yeah?" I replied monotonously.
"Remember to control your sets yeah?" The spikers glared at me intensely but I just shrugged them off and ignored them as I made my way onto the court once our Junior High was called.
We all walked to the court, discussing our plan of action after being told we'd be serving first. I leaned away from the discussion, a glimpse of orange hair flashing in the corner of my eye.
I turned my body to look at the orange haired shrimp on the opposite side of the court, almost furious that I was playing against him. I smirked at him, letting him know that he's a weakling they needs to be put back in his place. He seemed to jump back a little at my state but he returned it was a determined look in his eyes that threw me off slightly but I ignored it and turned away as he did.

I bent down, gently brushing my fingers over my right calf where Shinryaku rested in her tattoo form. She bonded well enough with me for that after about a year or so later, her positioning being curled up, the only colour shown being the glimpse of her purple eyes that peaked out from behind her tail. Knowing she was constantly with me inspiring my power made me a little less tense as I shook my head clear and prepared myself ready for the game to being.

Hinata's POV
Falling to my knees, panting heavily and eyes wide in disbelief, I stared at the score of the final set 25-8 to Kitagawa High. We... lost. We were destroyed. Both sets were won by Kitagawa the first set being 25-5. We tried so hard - I tried so hard and yet I still failed. I wanted to keep playing. I wanted to stay on the court just that bit longer. And I couldn't. And it pissed me off severely.

I glanced across the net, noticing the black haired male glaring down at me with a look of unsympathetic pity before he swiftly turned away and followed his team.
I myself finally stood and chased after him - finally catching him when he was at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey you!" I yelled out to him, tears threatening to fall. He paused and turned to look at me.
"What do you want shrimp?" His cold gone made me flinch but I continued anyway.
"You may have won this time, but trust me, next time we face against each other I'll win. And I'll destroy you the way you did me." At that point my body lost it. All pent up frustration and tears spilled from my body as it trembled awaiting the others male's answer.

After a long silence he finally spoke. "I'll look forward to crushing you dumbass." And with that he turned and left me before I fell down again, crying in defeat ignoring the comfort of my friends but determined that I'll improve in the future. After all, fate wouldn't have chosen Itazura as my spirit animal for no reason.
