Kageyama's POV
I'd settled into Karasuno rather well and the volleyball team seems to have accepted me despite the ruckus me and the dumbass caused at the start of the year. I was about 2 weeks into school now and was currently exercising Shinryaku behind the club room in the early hours of the morning. Due to her not being seen in five hundred years I'd decided to keep her in tattoo form during school, careful when changing before and after practice to keep her hidden. Most morning would often include both of us running to school early and bonding together behind the club house for a bit before she returned to my thigh and I headed to morning practice. We had a game against Aoba Johsai in 3 days and me and Hinata have to keep practicing our freak quick. Not to mention the dumbass needed to practice serves, receives and basically every other aspect of volleyball. Just thinking about it made me mentally face palm. How he managed to get onto the team I'll never know.
It was a chilly morning but I was currently stroking Shinryaku's soft fur as her head lay in my lap whilst I contemplated the outcomes of the game that was due to occur in three days. If I'm being honest with myself I'm slightly nervous about my first match as a high school student. I wondered if maybe my old Senpai would be my opponent. Toru Oikawa was a person I looked up to most back in junior high, but I always felt like hates me for some unknown reason. He always refused to help me with my sets which rather frustrated me but there was nothing I could've done about it really. Knowing I've improved since then means that so has he, meaning that this will be a difficult match for "the Wingless Crows".

I was suddenly snapped from my train of thought when a sharp pain shot through my hand. I bit my lip to stop myself from yelling at the pain - looking down to see that Shinryaku had nipped me because I'd suddenly stopped stroking her due to my train of thought.
"Sorry Shinryaku, got lost in my thoughts again." I spoke to her, gently scratching under her chin. She lifted her head up towards my face gently nuzzling me with her cheek as her way of letting me know that she was beside me all the way.
I smiled softly and I rubbed to top of her head, before standing up.
"Tattoo time Shinryaku." I lifted up the leg of my shorts to expose my thigh, watching Shinryaku bowed her head in understanding before she pressed her nose to my thigh and disappearing in a blinding light I refuse to look away from as she transformed and became the still tattoo on my thigh.
I dropped the leg of my shirts back to normal before I ran out from behind the club room, now waiting a few more minutes until the dumbass arrived along with the rest of the team.

Several minutes passed before I spotted an orange blur quickly reaching the steps of the club room before the idiot himself dropped to his knees exhausted.
"Aw come on Kageyama! How are you always here before me?!" Hinata whined as he slowly climbed the steps to stand beside me.
I just shrugged not wanting to give away any hints as to the real reason why I'm outside the clubhouse fifteen minutes before everyone else.

"Baka-yama" He mumbled under his breath.
"Dumbass" I replied back, receiving a weak blow to my arm from the dumbass himself.
"Hey! I'm smarter than you don't call me a dumbass!" He wined yet again. I just sighed and shook my head.

"You still gonna toss for me?" I glanced over to the orange haired male, smirking at the question. I ruffled his hair before I replied.
"Well duh. Or did you forget we had a game against Aoba Johsai in three days?" I watched as Hinata suddenly froze and his cheeks went pale. There's no way...

"You dumbass you actually forgot?!" I yelled gripping his head trying to squeeze some sense into his brain ignoring his cries of pain.
Finally I let go, letting the shrimp free. I didn't hear what he said after that - my mind started to drift else where.
His hair is so soft... has it always been like that?
I wanted to touch it again, the previous feeling of the silky strands already faded and I wanted to feel it again. What the hell am I thinking?! He's a moron why would I wanna keep touching his hair?
Another hit to my arm finally forced me back into reality. "Did you even hear what I said Baka-yama?!" His voice rang in my ears again trying to recall what he said but not finding any words. So I just shook my head thankful that I spotted Daichii-Senpai making his way over before Hinata repeated his previous huff.

Hinata's POV
I followed Kageyama and Daichii-Senpai into the gym, rubbing the top of my head gently with my hand where the idiot had gripped me. It's not my fault I forgot about the game - I've been busy lately. I've to take care of Natsu whilst my mother was away earning money - not to mention I had to keep up with my school work and bonding with Itazura. I decided to only release her when at home since out house is quite a distance from most people I talk to and I wanted to keep her on the down-low since she hasn't been seen in five hundred years. We're well bonded and she loved being perched on my shoulder whilst I'm taking care of Natsu before and after school. She was currently resting in her tattoo form on my back - and she's highly noticeable in the position she chose. In order to avoid attention I thought it best to wear a vest constantly underneath my shirts and uniform. Her wing tips and beak peeked through the sides but it wasn't as obvious as the whole galaxy coloured tattoo painting my upper back.

Suddenly a large whack across my head snapped me from my train of thought as I gripped my head again turning around to see Baka-yama behind me. "Oi Dumbass time to change!" He rudely informed me before I grinned at him just to annoy him before bouncing away towards the club room. I smirked to myself when I heard him scoff annoyed under his breath before he followed me to the club room.

Time Skip

Practice before school went well and no one had yet to question my vest - which I was thankful for. The team and I were currently changing after a long hard practice, the stars glistening outside the window against the pitch black sky. We all walked out and I noticed a few of the members taking out their companions. Tanaka's was a grey wolf almost the same size as him and they were very friendly with each other. His tattoo was placed on his forearm. Sugawara's was a cute, fluffy snowy owl that perched on his shoulder the moment it was released from it's tattoo confines on Suga's neck. Looking around, the rest of the team had released their companions baring Kageyama (who was stood behind me) and myself; making me worried.

Noya walked up to the two of us, his cheetah close behind him. "Hey you two, how come we've never seen your companions before?" I instantly froze, hesitating on whether I should tell the group of not. Deciding against it I spluttered the first lie I could think of.

"Oh, uh, haha i-it's because my companion i-is pretty sh-shy around other people. Yep that's the reason." I stuttered out hoping it was convincing enough. It wasn't. Tsukkishima was next to speak.

"Well I've never seen a tattoo for one which makes me think you don't actually have a companion. You too King." I froze and glanced at Kageyama worried he'd attack Tsukki after he called him 'King'. However he seemed calm and refused to speak.

Although thinking about it now, I've never seen Kageyama's tattoo or companion either. Is he hiding his too? Is he ashamed of it? Is he hiding it for the same reason I am? No that's ridiculous. There's no way he'd have Shinryaku as a companion. Although it could be plausable - wait what am I thinking!? I need to get out of this situation and quickly.
