It's my first day of school so far, I was terrified. I've recently relocated
from New York three days ago. My parents are in this business company and we're always moving. This time, it's Australia.
Don't get me wrong, I love moving and finding new friends, but this time, it's permanent. That means that we're not moving again. We're staying in the same house for good. That's good bye to all my old friends.
For the last two days, I've been unpacking my things in my room. The thing I like about it most is that since it's on the top floor, I have a mini bed by the window so I can look at the stars at night. The last day, I spent it touring around Australia with my new car my dad bought me. Yes, my dad buys my happiness. It's sad. So, I was touring around and looking all over Australia. I finally toured around my new high school. I'm a junior in West Sidney High. It's a pretty cheesy name, like the ones in the movies. I enrolled myself with my mom along with me.
"How are you liking this school, honey?" She asked me and smiled.
"Well, considering that I haven't even attended school yet, I'm liking it so far." I answered her sarcastically.
"Well, don't worry Mrs. Hykes, Rosalie will be very comfortable here. The kids are very welcoming and the teachers are tremendously good at their teaching. Plus, there's a drama and music department!" My principal, Mr. Harris, informed her. I was now ecstatic that there was a music department, I've always had a love for music. But then again, who didn't?
So I have all the same old classes but English 3 and Science and Social Studies. I just hope to make friends. Woah, that sounds so primary.
The Next Morning
I woke up and did my hair. I put on my ripped, black jeans and a white, loose tank top that has a mini pocket on my right shoulder. I straightened my hair and put in curls on the bottom and put my basic make up on which consisted of mascara and concealer. I slipped my black and grey vans on, got my book sack and drove to Starbucks.
Everyone stared at me. Well nobody actually stared, it just felt like it. Oh, new girl! Wonder where she's from! I thought to myself.
"Hi! I'm Chloe, you must be Rosalie Hykes. I'm a student worker in the office and I snoop a lot. Anyways, what classes do you have?" She asked happily. I handed her my schedule.
"It's only Rose, Rosalie sounds much too sophisticated." I told her, she nodded quickly whilst observing my schedule.
"We only have choir, science, and social studies together." She said in a sad tone this time. She had brown, long wavy hair that came to her waist. Her skin was pale and looked like a ghost compared to my skin tone. But she was absolutely beautiful, alluring even. She could pass for a model.
"Well it's not that bad, we have three classes together. That's good, right?" I told her and she smiled and nodded.
"So, what type of music do you listen to?" She asked me.
"I like Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Blink 182, and My Chemical Romance! I'm all rock but I like to listen to other things too," I answered and smiled.
"Yay, so do I! Here we are, social studies with Ms. Lonidier! I gotta go, I'll see you later!" She told me and sat down then talked to her friends.
When I looked around, people would stare like I was light, and they were moths. My teacher, Ms. Lonidier looked and smiled at me.
"You must be Rosalie, welcome to social studies with me, I'm Ms. Lonidier. For ten more minutes, the class with be talking and we'll move on into the lesson." she said and smiled warmly at me.
"Okay, thanks." I spoke shyly to her.
"Everyone this is Rosalie, and she's the new student," she told the class.
"Sit next to Luke over there," she directed me. Well that was the only seat that was left, so I'd have to sit there anyways.
The boy had a dirty blond quiff and a lip ring. That was enough to get my heart pumping faster than usual. His blue eyes were there almost to stare the soul out of me. He wore a black sweater and black jeans that had a rip on each knee. All black. He pretty much summoned the basic bad boy.
By now, he had been staring at me for approximately three minutes.
"Um hi," I said shyly I attempted to look up at him, but once I did, I looked back down. His eyes were still upon me.
"Hi," he said. I finally looked up and saw him smiling. I couldn't help but smile back, his grin was contagious. We began class until the bell rang.
After searching for what seemed like hours, I finally found my corresponding class, which was math. I sat on one of the two empty desks in the back of the room. I have no clue who is sitting next to me, but maybe I'll find out soon.
As soon as my teacher began teaching, the same blond haired boy walked in the class
"Wow Luke! You're a minute earlier, why did you come so early this time?" My teacher asked him sarcastically.
"Maybe you should always time me, that always works," he answered back making the teacher's face red with anger.
"Looks like an infraction for you, for being late and talking back! That always works for me!" She said.
"You're definitely planning on raping him!" A boy with curly blond hair yelled across the class. Luke walked by him and high fived him on his way to his desk...that was next to mine.
"You're just every where aren't you?" He asked. For a bad boy, he was quite nice to me. Most would just ignore or threaten me.
"I am, as a matter of fact," I answered and smiled.
"Um, can I borrow a pen?" He asked me.
"Sure," I handed him a pen and got back to work.
"Um, what are we doing?" He whispered to me.
"We have to fill out a paper, you can go get it from the back table," I told him. It seemed like he'd lean in a little closer every time I'd talk. He was cute.
"Ok," he said and got up to get a paper. He was incredibly tall. I always liked that about a boy, he had these blue pools that pull you in. He was beautiful, astonishing even. I felt like I had no chance with him since I have plain brown hair and eyes. I never really saw myself as someone adequate to date someone as beautiful as he was.
He came back and began to read the paper. It was cute when he read, his eyebrows knitting together, how his eyes would scroll through the passage-
"What?" He asked interrupting my train of thought. Oh my gosh, I was staring at him! I looked down to hide my red cheeks.
"Um, nothing," I said and finished my page.
After the bell rang, I got out quickly to find choir class. I tried my best to get through the traffic, but it was no use. I soon felt someone tap my shoulder.
"Um, what class are you going next?" Luke asked me. I handed my schedule to him so he could look.
"Choir with Ms. Goodwin," I answered him while looking at my schedule.
"Nice, we have that together, too," he said and smiled at me. I walked with him to class. But once we got in, people stared again.
"What are you doing? Mind your own fucking business!" Luke yelled at the class. They all looked down and did their work. They were scared of him, but why would they be? He's not that bad? Is he?
"Sit by me?" Luke told me, it was more of a demand than a question. But I still sat by him. He soon put his arm next to mine on top of the desk. He was playing with my eraser while his arm extended touching my arm.
My teacher got off her phone and began to write on the white board making the extremely annoying squeaky sound markers make when they are running out of ink. "Ok today class, just practice what's on the board and after you're done, you can talk quietly or go on your phone just don't cause anything," my teacher told us. I began my work and before I knew it, I was done.
"Can you help me? I don't get it," Luke asked me. I felt like he got the question, but he just wanted to here me say it. He's been doing this for the last classes, but I find it incredibly charming.
"Sure," I told him and leaned in to see his paper. I explained it with great detail to him. The delectable thing was that he always stares at me when I do explain, I noticed that about him.
After class, it was lunch so we walked together to lunch.
"What's for lunch?" I asked Luke.
He scrunched up his eyebrows in a hard thinking expression. "I think chicken nuggets. Do you wanna go to Maccas instead?" He asked lookin down at me.
"I don't know what Maccas is," I told him.
"Oh I forgot, Mrs. All American, it's McDonalds!" He said and laughed.
"Oh well yeah!" I told him. We went to McDonalds and ate there.
Literally, all the food here was way better than in America, it had more flavor. "So, what do you like to do in you free time?" I asked him.
"I have a band, I like to go practice with them. They're pretty cool. You should meet them!" He told me and took a bite out of his burger.
"Cool! What's you band called?" I asked him excitingly.
"5 Seconds of Summer. But you can call it 5SOS," he answered me smiling.
"That's a nice name! Is there a talent show here?"
"Of course, it's annual. We're gonna be performing," he informed me. "Cool, I hope I can get in," I told him. "You sing?" He asked in surprise.
"Yeah, piano and guitar also. I want to do a song that means a lot to me. I just haven't picked a song yet," I responded. We talked and once we were done, we drove back to school.
Once we walked back, I knew that we were late because no one's in the hallways.
"Luke, we're late!" I screamed and checked my schedule. I had to go to choir and there's no way that I was late for my favorite class in this school.
"We have choir next, right?" Luke asked me.
"Right," I answered him.
"Okay well we can take our time, the teacher's a bitch." He told me. Why was he so casual about this?
"Why aren't you in a hurry?!" I asked worriedly.
"Because we got all class to go, why are you in a such a hurry?" He asked looking down at me.
"Cause we're gonna be late and in trouble! Now let's go!" I said pulling his arm, but he didn't even budge.
"Nope," he said popping the p.
"But we're gonna be laaate!" I said.
"Oh c'mon!" He said and pulled me along.
We finally reached the class and yes, we were late. On the first day of school, you go Rose!
"Nice for you to show up!" My choir teacher said.
"Sorry," I said looking down.
"Yeah I'm not sorry. In fact, I could care less," Luke said scrunching his little nose and smirking.
"Well since you're late, you'll perform first!" She told us.
"I'm gonna go first, okay?" He asked quietly to me. He was sweet to me, but rude to everyone else.
"Okay," I answered him and smiled. I was nervous, what if I mess up? I picked "Drop In The Ocean," by Jon Pope.
Luke and three other guys propped their guitars and an acoustic drum.
"This is Voodoo Doll, it's an original," Luke told the class. He smiled slightly more when he saw me. They began their song. I had to confess, I was taken aback, they're really good! They finished their song and we all clapped and some would whoo. I got up and walked up to the boy with red hair.
"Can I borrow that?" I asked him for the guitar. He nodded and handed it to me. I sat down on the stool and sang my heart. My heart was doing relay races, I got used to it rather quickly and began to have fun with it. Of course, my heart was still speedily beating, but it was somehow bearable.
Once I was done, everyone clapped. It isn't the action of the clapping that makes you feel amazing, it's the adrenaline that comes along with it.
"THAT WAS AMAZING. SOMEONE GET HER A RECORD DEAL!" The boy with the scruffy, curly hair yelled.
"Enough, Ashton," Ms. Goodwin said trying not to laugh. So his name is Ashton.
"That was pretty good!" Luke told me. "Thanks!" I said and smiled at him. At the end of the day, we went home. For about three weeks, we Luke and I were good friends. Luke and I would go out for lunch everyday. I like him, besides the fact that he's freakin hot, he's funny and nice. I also got to meet his friends. They're extremely humorous.
"...So you're 5 Seconds of Summer?" I asked the boys.
"Yep! We could have done something cooler like, Bromance." Calum told me.
"Or we could have done 7.45 Seconds of Summer. Maybe the teachers will think we're very mathematical-" Michael began saying but was cut off by Luke.
"Funny thing was, that we were gonna also call it 2 SOS! Luke said patting Michael's shoulder. Soon, Michael began to try to tickle his neck. "Stoooop!" Luke said getting irritated and slapped Michael on the arm playfully to get him to stop.
"Luke won't shut up about you. I don't know what you did to him, but LUKE NEEDS TO COME BACK!" Ashton said making us all laugh. Luke gave him a I'm going to kill you, look to him.
"Yeah, should I ask for Rosie's number? Should I hug her today?" Calum said laughing mocking Luke.
"Rosie smells so good today!" Michael said joining in and laughing. I was completely blushing, I was trying not to laugh because of the way they were acting and I was quite surprised that Luke felt like that towards me. The last time I had a boyfriend was in seventh grade.
"Ok you fuckers are gonna get it when we get home!" Luke said and everyone kept laughing.
"Hey, we're going to my house after school. Do you wanna come?" Luke asked looking and smiling down at me.
"Sure!" I answered him.
"Ok I can pick you up if you want," Luke offered me.
"I've got my own car, you can just text me the address," I told him giving him my phone so he can put his number. He typed his number and and texted himself so he could get my number. And finally texted me his address.
The bell rang even though it felt like only 3 minutes in the class, God, time flies. The last class of the day was English.
"What class are we going to next?" Luke asked me.
"English," I answered him.
We walked in the class and we soon saw a teacher walking towards us and handing us a paper to do. We sat together and soon started working on the paper.
"How can you write like that?" Luke asked me curiously.
"Like what?" I asked him.
"With your left hand, how do you do that?" He asked me.
"I just do, how do you write with your right hand?" I asked.
"I don't know I just do," Luke said understanding.
"Exactly-" I was cut off by the teacher.
"Do you guys wanna share with the class," Ms. Stutzman said.
"Actually, I kind of do," Luke answered.
"Stop it," I whispered to Luke.
"You're gonna get detention if you do say something," I told Luke. Finally, Luke let it go.
"Never mind," Luke said and went back to his paper. Everyone looked at him in surprise like he killed someone.
"Mind your own business! Turn around!" Luke yelled at the other students. I grabbed his hand and he immediately calmed down. Like I had some type of power over him. We were writing about comparing and contrasting, but I'm guessing you don't want to hear that. Once the bell rung, we gathered our stuff and Luke walked with me to my car.
"So this is your car?" Luke said smiling at my red 2014 Nissan Altima.
"Yeah, got it for my birthday. My dad buys my happiness, my parents are always on business trips so it's just me," I told him.
"Oh, well the boys and I are always riding together, it's always fun like that," Luke said. Then the boys came and whistled to us.
"What's up sister-in-law!" Ashton joked.
"Nothin much brother-in-law!" I joked back.
"Ooooh! Now you guys dating! That's my boy!" Calum said jumping on Luke.
"We aren't dating, smart ass!" Luke said to him and got Calum off of him.
"You still coming to my house?" Luke asked me probably for reassurance.
"Yeah!" I answered him and smiled.
"Ok byee!" Luke said stretching the y in bye.
"BYEE!" All the other boys said jumping over each other to wave bye to me. Those boys.
