Chapter Three: "Life isn't always what it seems"
The sun had returned like clockwork casting shadows over the small quaint home, a couple of hours had past and the scars left behind by Angaline still lingering on Jessamines skin.
Topanga knocks gently on the front door holding warm food in her free hand, "Jessamine, you have to eat."
The sound of movement giving the older woman hope for a split second Jessamine appears at the threshold opening the door and taking the plate without uttering so much as a thank you.
shock rattles Topanga as the door is slammed in her face, sighing defeatedly she walks away.
Jessamine's head rests against the door listening to the sound of her grandmother's footsteps slowly becoming distant, quieter.
She pull her hair into a tight ponytail and opens the window slowly climbing out, needing a break from the constant reminders of her mother's betrayal.
Despite visiting Topanga once before the town she was settled in was foreign to Jessamine, never had she taken the time to explore.
Many stores and small businesses sat on the street busy people travelling in groups and scurrying around some in a rush to get to work and others in a rush to buy the latest items from a store.
Teenagers her age walking together in groups obviously skipping school giggling mischievously.
Jessamine already missed her friends back home.
The same sickening feeling caused by distress returning in the out of her stomach.
Thoughts travelled around her mind faster than a bullet poisoning and destroying the little hope that she had left.
Jessamine came off as a happy teenage girl always smiling and laughing, but there was something that she kept secret.
The minds strength was amazing but something was off with hers, visions would appear some lasting hours and others seconds.
Wilbur's death and the one vision that would haunt her forever, the unrecognisable man sneaking into her bedroom window in the depths of the night.
A shiver ran down her spine, the thought of it made Jessamine uncomfortable.
The town around her was quite small and it had street art decorating the brick walls, it was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Are you lost?" she flinches.
Jessamine's small moment of peace was ruined "no I'm fine..." she crosses her arms and avoids looking the stranger in the eyes.
"Are you sure? I can help you with directions."
The stranger standing beside Jessamine had a lovely brown tone, beautiful brown eyes and a resting bitch face.
A sign that she should run for the hills.
"I'm visiting a relative, I should be fine. Who are you?" The confidence in her voice completely diminished.
"I'm Cynthia." She offers Jessamine her hand wearing a warm smile.
"I'm Jessamine." they fall into an awkward silence both looking everywhere except directly at each other.
"well Jessamine, here's my number. If you want me to show you around than give me a ring."
Cynthia pulls a marker from her bag and grabs Jessamine's arm, writing the 10 digit number across her forearm.
They head in separate directions, Jessamine walking back to her Grandma's house.
The older woman sits outside her home arms crossed over her chest angrily, "Jessamine Williams, get your ass inside."
She gulps nervously and steps past her grandma walking into the living room and throwing herself onto the couch.
The older woman sits on the couch staying silent scaring Jessamine greatly, being angry was one thing but being angry and staying silent is another.
"just yell at me..." she whispers.
Topanga stands and leaves the room without making a noise only making her grand daughter even more anxious.
Jessamine gets up and walks to the bedroom she is being forced to live in and lays on the bed, pulling her phone out entering Cynthia's number.
Perhaps staying wouldn't be so bad after all.
