Jessamine awoke the next morning with a smile resting upon her face, it felt like forever since she felt happiness.

She slides off the double bed and exits her room with a pep in each step, "Grandma Topanga! Where are you?"

The bedroom door swings open and a deathly pale women lays in bed hands on her lap and no signs of breathing or life - "oh my god!"

Jessamine rests her head on Topanga's chest hyperventilating, "wake up!" she begs shaking her violently - unmercifully.

The tears begin to fall quickly as she thinks back on the night before.

A sweet smell of mashed potatoes and sausages wafts through the air and into the bedroom of one lonely teenage girl.

"That's smells so good!" She exclaims skipping into the kitchen and sitting at the table licking her lips hungrily - stomach growling in response.

Topanga places a plate full of food in front of the girl with a warm smile "dig in child."

Jessamine begins shovelling fork fulls of the food down her throat sighing in complete bliss stopping most thoughts.

Topanga places a hand over her heart groaning quietly, "I'll see you in the morning, Jessamine. Sweet dreams." She whispers limping towards her bedroom.

Once the door is safely shut behind her, Topanga climbs under her duvet and makes herself comfortable already sensing later events.

"It's time..."  one last breath of air would escape her lungs tonight - no one could change her fate.

The young girl pulls her grandma into her chest tears rolling down her face, "I didn't get to say -"

She sobs loudly raising a shaking hand to her mouth withholding majority of her emotions, "I- i will forever love you."

The landline phone beside the bed begins to ring with a familiar number sprawled across the screen with green lighting illuminating all 10 numbers.

"Topanga - I need to speak to" he pauses hearing his sisters sobs from the other line.

"Are you okay, Jessamine?" He questions urgently and quite loudly making her ear ring loudly in response.

"S-She's g-gone...." she sobs loudly wiping away the falling tears as quickly as they come.

The call ends quickly leaving Jessamine alone with the body of her grandma and her loud thoughts - that were seemingly getting louder.

It had only been a few months in her grandmas care but they had truly bonded - they were best-friends and she had lost her.

Only 12 hours ago they last spoke and she seemed so healthy like she was going to outlive Jessamine herself.

It didn't take long until a knock at the door made her flinch, they didn't wait very long.

Darren appears at the doorway frowning apologetically at his younger sister grief already swimming in the depths of he's eyes.

"Oh Jessamine...." he whispers pulling her away from Topanga's cold and lifeless body.

Her sobs were heartbreakingly loud as she begun to shake in his grip - the tears landing on he's shoulder wetting the thin fabric of his clothing.

How unfortunate the circumstances had to be for the siblings to finally reunite after months apart.

They dial 999 and exit the room hastily waiting in the living room for those to come and retrieve the woman's body from her home.

An ambulance escorted by a police car arrive only minutes later sirens and lights flashing conjuring neighbours from their homes to witness the drama unfolding.

A female officer approaches the teenage girl kneeling down to meet her level, "hi sweetie, I know this is hard but I need you to answer a few questions."

Darren responds for his younger sister, "when was the last time you spoke to your grandma?"

She sniffles and stifles another cry of sadness, "last night at the table."

The officer nods in reply writing it down and smiling sympathetically "was she deceased when you found her?"

As the words tumble from the woman's lips, Jessamine's sobs get louder and more intense.

"I believe that answers your question." Darren replies harshly, glaring at the officer with all his might.

The flashing lights and sirens disappear leaving the siblings sitting outside the quaint home embraced in each other's arms.

"we're going home."
