Chapt.8 A Night To Remember

Suki's POV
     We finally found a burger place after some more wandering. They had good prices and by the description of the food, good burgers as well. When Yuudai walked in the small building he practically was drooling, with his jaw touching the floor. We haven't ate much because of all the chaos going on around us, so I can't blame him. We ordered, then waited like 3-5 minutes for the burgers, after that we started our way home.
     I was trying to zone out but then it hit me, we don't have phones. This also means that we don't have communication with each other, or to other outside of this time line. I can't believe I hadn't realized this until now. We continue to walk down the sidewalk in peace, I start to wonder if Yuudai's thoughts are as chaotic as mine.
     "Hey y'know what I just realized?" I decide to start a conversation, "what?, Are we lost?" Yuudai's eyes go wide, and he looks to me with what I can only describe as restless. "No, no. I just thought about how we don't have any means of communication, since we don't have phones." I elaborate for him. Yuudai's eyes go back to normal as he forms an 'oh' shape with his mouth. I feel bad for making him panic a bit, but that usually happens because of his anxiety. He's always on edge, it's gotten better, but it still lingers when big things happen. Like how we're here in the past without our friends or parents. Basically alone, with no help or guidance. Its also times like this that I have to be strong for the twins. I'm their only guidance, they put all their trust in me, that I'll protect them. Which is why I can't show vulnerability, nor doubt, I have to be strong for them. 'Cause who else will in this new place.
     "That's not true, we do have phones, or at least Yuki has mine and hers. She has always been good at keeping track of things. She even has been able to keep all her school things in her bag. Also yes she has chargers for our phones, Yuki has always been resourceful in times like these. Which is why she'll make a wonderful hero." Yuudai startles me with his talking at first, but as he continues I realize he's right. Yuki has always kept track of her things, and other peoples things. This also reminds me that I need to rely on my siblings as well, we are a team against this world.
     "You're right, I should have more faith in you two. Even though you guys are chaotic as hell, you're both very helpful when needed. Though this also means that we might be able to get a hold of Dad, and Father." I explain to him, he nods and gives a small smile. I guess I'm not the only one with hope for the future, "thought to be honest I hope they don't get to us too fast. I do wanna be apart of the hero course, just like them. Plus when we do get back home I'll already have experienced it, and I'll be ahead." He gives me a smirk, and a chuckle. Its always good to see him in a good mood, it makes me happy.
     I nod, and look ahead, though when I do I see just how close we are to the hotel. Its just down the block, I'm surprised how much time has passed. I come up with this spur of the moment idea, and start to bolt ahead towards the hotel. I yell, "come on slow poke!" Behind me to Yuudai, I know that he knows I'm fast, but we both know that he's way faster. Once he realizes what's happening he starts to bolt as well, then calls, "hey! No fair you cheated, you started without me!" Behind me. I look to see behind me, and what I see warms my heart. Yuudai has this crazy almost manic grin on, and his eyes are shining bright, he really reminds me of Dad when he gets like this. Its rare though, and every time I see it I can't help but smile.

Back at the hotel room still Suki's POV
      Yuudai did catch up to me, he even beat me to the hotel, but I wasn't that surprised. Now we're in the hotel room, sitting on the beds eating cheap, but good burgers. Yuudai finished first to no ones surprise. I finish mine then get up to wash my hands, then I see a phone charging on the night stand.
     "Yuki can you try calling Dad or Father on your phone please. It might help us to get home faster." I turn off the sink when I'm done with it, and dry my hands with a towel that was laying around. "Yeah I figured you might think about that soon. Also I already tried, it said that the phone number couldn't be reached. Which figures since Dad and Father probably don't have the same phone number that they had in high school. Also the phones that they have now probably don't even exist yet in this year.
     "Ok good points, but did you try again? Maybe it was just that one time, it might work now." I know I was really reaching with this, but I couldn't give up. "Yeah obviously I tried more than once. More specifically I tired 10 times, 5 for each. Trying again won't change anything, it'll be the same damn message." I know Yuki was getting annoyed with me, mainly because things are going fine, but what about when they aren't? I sigh deciding to drop the subject, it didn't really matter now, plus it was getting late.
     "Alright whatever, we need to get to bed, we'll take showers in the morning, and go clothes shopping around noon, ok? After that we'll come back here, an-ooh which reminds me! We have to get bags or something to hold our things. Anyway thats the plan got it?" When Yuki finishes her rant it leaves me puzzled, I thought that the policeman would get us clothes. "Isn't the policeman going to get us clothes? At least thats what I thought he said." Yuudai voices for me, which I give a small nod to say, 'agreed'. "Yeah but I talked with the policeman and we decided that us three should be able to choose what we want to wear. Which is why he made the kind choice to take us shopping, he really is amazing at taking care of kids."
      She says dreamily as she crawls into bed with Yuudai. I sigh, its not too much of a big deal I guess. I  climb into the sheets and comforter of the bed, the whole thing consuming every inch of me. Like a warm hug, maybe even better. I close my eyes and let sleep take over me, all the events of today catching up to me, and making me sleepy. That morning I wake with the best feeling in my body, that nights sleep was the best sleep ever.
