The week passed by as slow as it could. Both me and Jessi were impatient and when the last bell rang on Friday night we booked it to my apartment as fast as we could. She was staying the night, like she did most Friday's and we were going to spend the day together tomorrow before the game. Once we got home and we both had taken our showers and gotten into comfortable clothes we plopped down on the couch with food and started trying to find a movie we could agree on, which turned out to be a really difficult task that night. After looking through all the movies on Netflix and Disney I sighed in frustration and walked to the other side of the living room to a wall of shelves covered in DVD's and started naming them off to her.
"Oh, yeah that one sounds good." she finally said and I pumped my fist in celebration which made her laugh. "Oh, it wasn't that long."
"Jessi, its like 10 o'clock we've been trying to decide on a movie for almost 2 hours." she rolled her eyes trying to insinuate I was being dramatic. I shoved her shoulder and grabbed the remote from her hand and started the movie.
We spent the next morning shopping, going to lunch and then coming home to nap before the game. I had set my alarm for 4 so I had time to get ready before leaving at 5 and when my alarm went off I jumped out of bed and headed straight to the shower. Once I was clean I got out and fixed my hair. I decided to leave it curly which I normally hated but it looked really cute today so what the hell. I threw on my favorite pair of jeans, a purple tanktop that would look cute when we went to the boys' house later, and finally threw my Jost jersey on top before walking out of my room to find my converse. Jessi was leaning against the counter and tapped her arm like she was tapping a watch when I walked out.
"Come on we gotta go or we're going to miss warmups."
"That sounds vaguely familar." I teased her, reminding her she had said the exact same thing that last time we went to a game.
"Oh, whatever if you would ever be ready on time I wouldn't have to say it everytime." she teased me and as soon as my shoes were tied she was dragging me out of the house towards her car. I rolled my eyes and laughed the whole way, she always was in a hurry.
When we got to the arena we walked up to the ticket booth to get our tickets.
"Name?" the lady asked, a bit snotty.
"Jana Tippen." I shot a side glance to Jessi who was currently in a state of shock over the snottiness of this lady. I shook my head seeing her mouth getting ready to open with something equally snotty.
"Here." the lady thrust an envelope in my hand and I had to grab Jessi's hand and drag her away from the teller and I did not let go of her hand until we were safely through the metal detectors and she couldn't get to her.
"What a bitch." I shook my head and threw my arm around Jessi's shoulders and turned her towards the direction of our seats.
"She was probably having a bad day Jes, you know what those are like..OW." I rubbed my side where she had elbowed me and smirked at her as we walked through the tunnel to the seats. Tyson had gotten us the same seats we had last time and I shook my head for probably the hundreth time this evening. These were way too expensive.
"Oh look theres your boy." Jessi said pointing out Tyson as they came out on the ice for warmups. We waved to each other before another guy with red hair and pretty eyes came up behind Tyson and also waved. I giggled before waving back at him laughing all out when he took his stick and used the heel of it to knock Tyson's helmet off. He skated away with Tyson chasing him down. I looked at the back of his jersey as he skated away. 'Compher'
The game was amazing. Avalanche won 7-2! Jessi and I were jamming out to music in her car waiting for Tyson to text me his address when they left. They had media to do and such so it would be a bit so we were making the most of our time. About an hour later the text came through and we were on our way. When the GPS said there was 5 minutes to our destination I started to get nervous. I had never hung out with any hockey player but Tyson, and I wasn't sure how this was going to go. What if they didn't like me and told Tyson to stop talking to me or something? My hands were shaking as we parked and walked up to the front door, Jessi rolled her eyes before knocking on the door.
"Hey! You must be Jana and Jessi? Come on in." it was the cute red head from the game. "I'm JT, that's Nathan over there on the couch. Tyson went to take a shower so he should be down in a minute." I nodded and looked around.
"You're the one who was giving Ty a hard time at the game." I said smirking.
"Oh yeah he's a menace." Nathan said getting off the couch and coming over to formally meet us. JT punched his arm. "See what I mean?"
"You want a drink or something? We have water and soda in the fridge." JT asked as he walked towards the kitchen.
"Uh yeah sure, soda is fine." I followed him into the kitchen while Jessi stayed behind with Nathan.
Tyson had come down a few minutes later and we had all decided that since the boys were tired from their game we would just hang out and watch a movie. They let us pick and I was happy to find out they owned my favorite movie "Maze Runner" so we chose that. I sat down on the couch next to Tyson and Jessi sat on the floor in front of me. JT and Nathan came back from the kitchen with popcorn and JT plopped on the other side of me, while Nathan sat in front of Tyson on the floor. When the movie came to the part about the 'Grievers' I shoved my head into Tyson's shoulder, I could feel his laughter even though it was silent.
"Shut up." I whispered, but I was smiling. I missed this.
"Thought this was your favorite movie? You can't be scared of your favorite movie."
"I can. This is literally the only part that makes me jumpy. The rest I'm fine." I saw JT smirking out of the corner of my eye. "You hush too." I said pointing an accusatory finger his way, which he pretended like he was going to bite causing me to jump slightly trying to get away. He busted out laughing which scared Jessi and Nathan.
"Compher, shut the hell up." Nathan sighed, but you could hear the humor in his voice. We settled down and finished watching the movie.
I woke up the next morning feeling claustraphobic and hot, and it only took opening my eyes to find out why. I had fallen asleep leaning against Tyson, but on my other side JT had fallen asleep on my hip, effectively pinning me to the couch. Jessi's head was leaning on my right leg and Nathan's head was on her lap. I could feel my back cramping up from my posistion so I tried shaking JT awake so I could get up, but after 5 straight minutes of shaking I gave up and sighed resigning myself to being in pain the rest of the day. I moved my leg slightly which caused Jessi's head to pop up as she tried remembering where she was. The relief on her face when she saw me quickly turned to humor when she saw my issue and she silently giggled.
"Stop laughing and help me." I whispered trying to sound serious, but couldn't help but join in on the silent giggles which by some miracle caused JT to start stirring as if he was waking up. I poked his shoulder and he sat up.
"Oh, I'm sorry." he said with such a worried look on his face and his bed head out of control I fell into more fits of giggles. A smirk immediately crossed his face as he reached his hand out to help me off the couch.
"Where's your bathroom?" I asked a few minutes later after the laughter had finally died down and me, JT and Jessi were standing in the kitchen waiting for the coffee to brew.
"Upstairs to the left, 2nd door." I nodded and headed upstairs. After using the restroom I quickly ran my fingers through my hair to try and tame some of the curly bedhead madness before giving up and grabbing the scrunchie from my wrist and tying my hair into a high ponytail. When I headed back downstairs, Tyson and Nathan had joined the other two in the kitchen. Tyson walked up and threw his arm around my shoulder.
"First sleepover in how many years?" he chuckled.
"And it wasn't even supposed to happen, like usual." I smiled at him before JT handed me a cup of coffee and I smiled a thank you at him. We stood around and talked a bit while we all finished our coffees and then Nathan groaned loudly, making all of us jump.
"What the hell Nate?" Tyson glared.
"I'm hungry. Lets go get breakfast." We all laughed but agreed so we all piled into JT's jeep and headed out to find the nearest breakfast joint that wasn't packed full of people.
