I can't tell you exactly when it started. Before I knew it my head was filled with these thoughts. Self-loathing, distrust, and anger. So much anger. I could see my father outside from my seat in the dining room. He looked lost. He always does, really. I tried focusing on my book but I kept looking back outside, to check if he'd found what he was searching for, whatever it was. After awhile he came back inside and stared at me. He looked kind of embarrassed, like he'd been caught tripping or dropping something. I stared back, trying to make it obvious by my expression that it was alright. He awkwardly sat across from me, twiddling his thumbs and looking at his lap instead of me. "Dad." His head popped up fast, and he blushed in embarrassment of his eagerness. I smiled at him and reached across the table to hold his hands. He got that sad guilty expression again, so I squeezed tighter. "Dad, look at me." Slowly, he lifted his head to meet my eyes. I smiled again, and laughed. "I love you." In that moment I felt like crying and laughing and.... His expression changed into something I'd never seen before, certainty? Relief? Well he looked like whatever he'd been searching for so aimlessly had finally been found, and chuckled, "I love you too Cameron."This chapter isn't very long but tada~ a new state is introduced😳✌️
