Waking up on Lolani's sofa to the sound of American Dad playing on the tv, I looked around at all the scattered snacks that surrounded us. My phone began to vibrate. Lightly tapping Lo's thigh signaling her to move over a little.
"Hmm?" She hummed, still slumped, as she moved over giving me enough space to reach over and grab my phone off of the coffee table.
Reading my screen I noticed a lot of miss calls from Luka, also a few from my parents. Growing worried I called my mom back.
"Yo mom, what's going on y'all good?" I asked in a raspy voice. I heard her sniffing then words that no person ever wants to hear fell from her mouth.
"Baby, they shot Nahmir!" She said into the phone as her soft cry's got a little harder. I hated seeing or hearing my mom cry. I heard my dad in the background then his voice appeared into the speaker.
"Hey son, Nahmir's been shot. He was on his way home when a car rolled up on him, words were exchanged and now we're here." He was calm but I could tell he was worried.
"Ok, I'm on my way send me which hospital you're at." I said standing up and stretching. I was trying to remain calm so I wouldn't freak Lani out. Slightly moving around to put on my shoes and jacket I heard a shift on the sofa.
"You leaving?" She spoke squinting her eyes.
"Yes ma, I gotta go to the hospital."
"Hospital?" She said in confusion as she got up walking towards me.
"Nahmir got shot." I said as my voice slightly cracked. I never cried especially not in front of people but the thought of losing my bother brought me a lot of emotion. That's all I got at the end of the day.
"Oh my goodness." She said bringing me into a hug that I desperately needed.
"You need me to come with you?"
If someone came for Nahmir I know they're coming for me. I can't put her in harms way.
"No it's late I don't want you out, I'll text you when I get there." I said kissing her. She led me to the door as we hugged again.
"Me and Tae will be there in the morning. Be careful." She said holding the side of my face. I nodded kissing her forehead then walking to my car hopping in.
I sped to the hospital as I let a few tears fall. Why my nigga man.
Pulling up to the hospital I parked in the parking garage and sped walked to the waiting room. Luka was waiting on me at the entrance.
