Ariel's POV:
The next morning I did the same old routine: shower, brush my teeth, fix my hair, get dressed, then go downstairs to eat breakfast and say goodbye to my parents. Except when I finished eating my breakfast, and I was getting ready to say goodbye to my parents, they stopped to talk to me.
"Ariel I hear that you've met the new pack member." my mom says smiling at me.
I nod my head slowly, expecting to hear a list of responsibilities to come.
"As a child of an Alpha, it is your responsibility to m-" I cut my father off before he could get into detail.
"I know dad: 'make sure that he is not left out and is treated like he has always been a part of the pack.' " I say remembering the last time we got a new member.
My parents smile proudly and my dad stands up and walks towards me, "Good, and I'm positive that you will stick to that." he says giving me a hug, "Have a nice day sweetheart"
"Okay you too dad" I say hugging him back.
When I get to school I am surprised to see Jeremy waiting for me at the front of the building.
"Good morning " I say giving him a warm smile. "You know you don't have to follow me around today, you can get your schedule from the office"
"Good morning to you too, and I already got my schedule" he says holding up a sheet of paper.
I snatch the paper out of his hand and read the list of classes. We have PE, literature, and government together.
"We have 3 classes together" I tell him
"Only 3?" he whines, frowning. I smile at him remembering yesterday...
*Flashback*
After I gave Jeremy my number I went to my room and changed into something comfortable. Then I laid in bed and played on my phone for a little while. After about an hour of staring at the screen, I put my phone down to charge and started doing my homework. As I was finishing up my essay, my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen to see who it was and found out it was an unknown number which was strange. I removed the phone from its charger then hesitantly answered.
"Hello?" I said uneasily.
"Hey Ariel, it's Jeremy"
I put my hand on my forehead, and remembered that I forgot to get his number.
"Oh, okay" I said not knowing what else to say.
"So what's up?" he asked.
"Not much", I replied, "just doing some homework, what about you?"
"I just woke up from a nap, and decided to call you"
"I wasn't expecting you to call at all" I admitted
"Why wouldn't I? And besides you told me to enjoy, so I am" he said
"Oh well..." I trailed off not knowing what else to say.
The silence that followed was deadly, the only sound you could hear was breathing:
Inhale, Exhale, Inhale...
A minute later I realized that the sound, deep and steady, was only coming from the other side of the phone, and I immediately let out the breath I was apparently holding.
"So umm... I have to g-"
"Wait!" he yelled, cutting me off,
"Are you busy?" he asked.
I looked down at my incomplete essay and sighed "Not really" I lied.
"Cool" he said, "meet me in the kitchen, okay? "
"Okay" I said then I ended the call and put the phone down.
Oh gosh, I thought as I headed towards the stairs. When I got to the kitchen I saw Jeremy sitting on the island reading a magazine while eating a sandwich. I walked into the kitchen but he didn't seem to notice, so I went to the island and leaned on the area next to him. He looked up from the magazine and stared at me for a while before smirking and turning back to the article he was reading.
I sighed and shook my head.
"Jeremy what do you want?"
"Nothing" he mumbled, flipping the page.
I narrowed my eyes at him as a smile appeared on his face. I turned around to leave, but as soon as I took one step Jeremy grabbed me and pulled me onto his lap. I started wiggling around trying to get free but it was no use. I sighed, defeated, I turned around and looked at him expectantly.
" For real Jeremy, what do you want?" I repeated, a hint of annoyance in my voice.
He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair then said: "Ariel you seem like a really great person and you're fun to be with and I just want to spend more time with you, is that okay?"
I smiled and looked up at him, "Really Jeremy? Is that all? Of course we can spend more time together, I won't mind."
*End of Flashback*
