Hope

Harley's POV:

School was actually a lot worse than I thought it would be. I may be gifted but not like these guys. Most of them know what they're doing. Or at least know who/what they are. But me? I have no idea. I know I can move things and when I get mad, my eyes change colour. But other than that, no clue whatsoever. The only upside to my day was Hope. She is funny and stubborn and that's who I need around me. Home room was entertaining. My classes, not so much. In fact, when the bell ran for lunch, I nearly tripped over myself trying to get out of the room quickly. I walked to the fountain to find Phoenix already stood there waiting for me. He looked stressed but smiled as soon as he saw me. "Alright?" "Yeah. You?" "Yeah. Made any friends?" "This one girl from home room. Her names Hope. She's nice. You'd like her. How about you?" "Not really. I'm not good at social. I spent most of my morning worrying about you to be honest squirt. But now I know you have someone to talk to any you're not alone, I might be able to focus a bit better." He said smiling. 

We took out our lunch and began eating. Me and Phoenix laughed and talked and before I knew it, the class bell had rang again. I ran back inside and straight into a wall. Wait, that can't be a wall. Since when have walls had heartbeats and smell like campfires? "Move" the wall said. I looked up at the towering figure to see a boy from one of my classes. I immediately dropped my gaze and moved out of his way. Best not to get into a fight on your first day Harley. I spot Hope in the corner of the corridor mumbling something under her breath. Next thing I know, the tank I collided with, well his hair was on fire. I stared wide eyed before looking back and Hope and clocking the little smirk she had set on her lips. He clocked the burning before he took off down the corridor, me and Hope running the opposite way. 

"What the hell was that?" I asked laughing away as we finally finished running. "I can't let some oaf be cruel to my friend now can I?" I smiled. A friend. My first friend. "So. What are you doing tonight?" "I'm not sure. Homework I guess. What about you?" "Well tonight is family night. But this weekend my family is going to England. So do you wanna crash at my house?" "I'm not allowed to stay out. I'm sorry. Strict mom I guess". The bell rang, ending any further conversation. 

I walked through the corridors trying to find my class when I smelt the same bonfire smell from earlier. I looked up to see the wall of a man. "You set fire to my head?" "It wasn't me but I'm glad it happened. You deserved it for being so rude." I've had enough of being polite when its not reciprocated. "Rude? You walked into me. Who ever are you? I've never seen you around." "I'm a mystery. You don't need to know who I am as I hope we never have the misfortune of bumping into each other again. Now if you'll excuse me I have a class I need to get to and you're blocking my way." He laughed. He actually laughed. "Sorry dumpling but I think you'll find its you who's blocking my way. Be a good girl and stay away from me from now on and we won't have any problems." He said before walking away. I rolled my eyes and walked towards my classroom. This day needs to end so I can go home and rest. Who knew school would be this stressful.

No-One's POV - 

Soon the day was over and the Garvey twins met each other at the fountain as they had done at lunch. They got the bus and walked back to the house. 

Walking through the woods the smell of burning was brought to the attention of the teens. Phoenix turned to Harley, their eyes locking before they took off, running towards the house. The flames licking the side of the house. Harley ran into the house where flames surrounded her. "Madge! MADGE!!!" She screamed but there was no response. "MADGE!!!!!"

Harley's POV - 

I can't find Madge. The smoke is getting too much. I can't breathe. My vision started fading as I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and pull me out the house. That's the last thing I saw before it all went dark.
