Final Fantasy VII: The Bond Between Us

Prologue: The Start

Mako, the substance that illuminates the world. Used by Shinra, devastated the planet's life stream. The Cetra, beings who sense the earth's presence attempting to regain what was lost. That's the story we all know, but it's more to it. Like the Cetra, there were other beings known as the Ryūkyū. They help the protect the natural life of the world, while the other protect the celestial bounds.

The Ryūkyū were dragons that could take on human forms. They were normally found in their dragon like states. The Ryūkyū lived in tribes called the "Tatsu". Each dragon had their own element. Some were Fire, Ice, Water, Earth, etc. Although they have natural element dragons their were some who were blessed with greater abilities. Such as the Light Dragon or the Shadow Dragon. But, the strongest and rarest of them all is the Astral Dragon.

He is the most unique out of them all. This dragon had to be sealed away for having an immense amount of power. And every 1,000 years the power of the Astral Dragon was passed to someone else from the Ryūkyū clan. Until, curious humans found out about this power and began to develop research and projects on dragons. They would kidnap some and experiment on them, which in result in them dying.

Until, the leader of the dragons, which they call, "The Advent", decided to plan a attack on the humans for kidnapping and experimenting on their kind. Humans got hold of their plans and prepared to raid them the same night.

" My good people of this village. I need brave warriors to help me avenge our fallen brethren." " We shall not let their souls continue to lie in agony and pain no longer!" The Advent then decided to ask for brave warriors to help him go into war with the humans.

" Dear Advent, why must thou fight? Why must thou show violence against a population that is oh so, big?" "My there aren't a lot of us left, dear one please reconsider. We shan't lose more than what we already have." Lady Kirin, wife of the Advent was concerned for her people. The Advent took a hard long look at his people and the warriors who were going to fight for the village. He took a deep long sigh and walked towards his subjects.

" Everyone, W..We are going to postpone the assault on the humans." The Advent says in a low tone.

The crowd began to protest back. "What about our children that were taken from us?!" " What about our parents, brothers and sisters!?"

" Listen everyone, SILENCE!" The Advent boasted. " Like Lady Kirin has brought up to me, we can't let more of our people perish due to this." We will avenge the fallen by releasing lanterns for them into the sky, so they may receive our affinity for them.

Although the person still wanted to avenge the fallen, they all suggested that releasing the lanterns would be a better solution. So, they all dispersed and went to gather lanterns for the release. While this was taking place the humans had already arrived at the village, hiding where they couldn't see them.

"On three, we all shall release our lanterns in memory of our lost ones. 1.... 2.... 3."

Just as soon as all lanterns were in the air, the humans charged into the crowd of Ryūkyūians. Killing them one by one with weapons dripping with dragon's blood. After a short amount of time their were only the Advent, Lady Kirin, their child, and a single Ryūkyūian family left.

" We got them cornered! Let's finish this and go home!" The humans closed in on them step by step. The Advent thought about going into his dragon form and fly away, but archers were dead set on them from above. This truly was the end for all Ryūkyūians. And without hesitation the humans wiped all Ryūkyūians from this earth.

With them gone no one directly knows about their origins, but they will soon be truly discovered...
