Myles hesitated to take the last step to pull Briar into his arms. He hesitated because he didn't know how she'd react and he didn't know how he would react to being this close to her again. He still remembered the last time the two of them had gotten this close, it was at the wedding of one of his cousins - three weeks before everything fell apart.

"Wanna dance?" Myles smiled at her, holding out his hand for her to take.

"I can't dance for shit, you know that." Briar laughed but got up anyway. Who was she to say no to myles?

"Oh shut up." he laughed as he pulled her closer so she could lean her head on his shoulder - the place where she felt the safest. Her shoulder to cry on, her everything. Hunter Hayes' "Wanted" was playing in the background, making her heart go crazy in her chest.

"Anyone can tell you you're pretty, yeah and you get that all the time, I know you do. but your beauty's deeper than the make-up and I wanna show you what I see tonight" Myles silently sang along to the song. His voice sending chills down Briar's spine, how she wished it wasn't just the song Myles was singing. How she wished he'd say those words to her.

"And I wanna call you mine, wanna hold your hand forever and never let you forget it. Yeah, I wanna make you feel wanted. Baby, I wanna make you feel wanted." Myles had placed a kiss on Briar's forehead as the song came to an end, the DJ switching to a much more upbeat song. She started laughing when she saw Noah coming towards them, moving his hips to the beat of "I wanna dance with somebody".

"I'm going to be a cockblock right now and i'm sorry, but you know what, I just wanna dance with somebody." Noah laughed and took Briar's hand to spin her.

Myles had realised in that moment that he was in love with her. She was his everything. The One.

She didn't know if it was the alcohol in her talking or if it was just the pure desperation that saw Myles hesitate that made her wrap her arms around the boy in front of her. She let the tears fall into his chest - tears he had caused. Myles hated seeing Briar like that and he wished nothing more than to turn back time, to never walk away from her, to never let her leave his arms, but he knew it had been best for him - right?

"I'm sorry, Bri." He whispered whilst moving his hand up and down her back to get her to calm down.

"Y-You don't get to do this, Myles. I can't let you break me again. This will be over in a few minutes and then you're gone again. I can't do this." She cried and let herself break down in his arms. You let him catch you and you knew it would be a mistake.

"I'm not worth crying over. You're doing great without me."

"I'm doing great?" She asked, freeing herself from his arms. "You really think I'm doing great? You really think that fucking day and the fucking words you said to me aren't in my head at least once a day?"

"I-I-" Myles started, but Briar had enough. She had enough of him not realising how much he'd hurt her. She had enough of him standing there, telling her how sorry he was, as if it hadn't affected him at all.
