myles saw briar leave through the front door. he saw the tears rolling down her face and he thought about running after her for a split second - but not his girl, not his problem, right ?
"here i was, thinking you couldn't possibly mess this up even more than you already have." noah appeared next to his best friend, shaking his head at the boy next to him.
"can you leave me alone?" myles groaned.
"not when you're being an absolute idiot. you're my best friend, myles, but now you're just being stupid. if you ever want to fix this, right now seems like a good time to start y'know."
"there's nothing to fix, i don't even know what you're talking about."
"oh for fuck's sake, myles. are you seriously going to act like bri doesn't exist?" noah was getting frustrated, he wanted nothing more than to see the two of them back to being the iconic duo they once were, but he knew it was a long way to go from where they were right now.
"we haven't talked in like what? three years? just leave me alone, this is nothing to fix - nothing I want to fix, noah. seriously, my life is better without her."
"oh as if! you're so damn stubborn, if you weren't my driver for the night, I'd love to smash your head against the wall right now, but sure. let her leave alone. crying. in the dark. walking. you're going to regret it bro, I can promise you that much. if something happens to her, I'll be the first one to blame you." noah would've gone after briar himself and walked her home, but he also knew there was no way that myles would let her walk home. alone. he knew that the two of them needed to talk sooner or later and for noah, right now seemed like the perfect moment to start. the boy shook his head at his best friend one last time before making his way towards the kitchen to grab himself a new drink, leaving myles behind with too many thoughts flying around in his head.
briar on the other hand, left the part with tears streaming down her face. she hated herself for crying whenever she got angry. it annoyed her that she seemed so damn vulnerable when all she wanted to do right now was punch something. wishing she hadn't had a drink so she'd be able to drive herself home and not have to walk home for an hour, she pulled out her phone, staring at her wallpaper to distract herself on her little trek. he wallpaper being a photo she took at the beach with hers and myles' family.
her mind went back to myles and how he looked at her at the party - like he didn't even know who she was, like he never built a fucking tree house with her, and like he never told her that she was his favourite person in the whole damn universe.
"i see how it is!" briar pouted as myles picked isaiah to be in his team. briar, myles, isaiah, noah, emmerly and katie were out in the garden playing soccer.
"his loss is my win, bri. you're stuck on my team now." noah grinned at myles who groaned. isaiah was the best player there and myles was not a good loser, so he did the reasonable thing and picked his brother before he was going to pick briar.
