Its been 3 years since they got married. It would be very inappropriate to say that there was nothing between them. They were gradually growing closer and closer. But Shankar wasn't agreeing with it though somewhere deep inside his heart he also knows the truth.

"Baishakhi! Baishakhi! Where are you?? Hurry up!" Shankar called out for his wife.

"Ha aschi!! What happened? Why are you shouting at such an early hour?! You know right father is resting!"

"Nowadays you are always busy with work... There's no free time you have..."

"For whom? For you?" Baishakhi smirked teasingly.

"W-What n-n-no! I mean yes... I mean... I mean... for reading BOOKS!!"

"Oh! Interestingly disappointing... whatever... you know right father's health conditions are not good so I've to spend more time with him."

"Idiot... here you go..." while looking away Shankar gave her a book,"Happy Birthday. You told once you wanted to read this book... so here you go..."

"Thank youuu dear husband!!" She squealed out in excitement and went straight to the study to read it. But before leaving she turned and said,"I think I'm becoming more and more successful right??"

"No! Not at all! I don't love you..."

Baishakhi giggled and went away. After she was gone Shankar scratched his head and murmered to himself,"Yea, I never loved her and I don't love her... may be..."

Days were passing and Somnath Roy Choudhury's health was deteriorating. One day while Shankar was at work, Baishakhi called him crying. Their worst fear came true... his father was no more alive.

They did all the funeral ceremony, all the guests left and it was only two of them with few servants left. The home was no more feeling like a home.

Baishakhi tried her best to talk to Shankar to lift his mood. But a different devil was playing its role in his mind. His father was no more so the thought was always striking him,"I married her... just because of my father. Now he is no more that means this marriage holds no more value....?"

"But... but I don't hate living with her... no no! What am I thinking?! I never loved her... And I'll never..." that ego of Shankar said.

The next day before sun rose, before anyone could notice... he left the house without letting anyone know. He left for London...
