Chapter 7: The Smothering

You, Jasper and Lapis were looking for a corrupted gem.
It's goo was contaminating the river. You were the one that found the monster.
It was a small yellow creature, kind of similar to a very small elephant.
You caught it and called the others. Jasper had some duct tape and taped it down.
She even added some fluffy pieces to it. You all though that this monster could be a good test to see if Steven can finally go on missions.

You warped back. "We're back" Jasper said.

"Hey Jasper! Hey (g/t)! Hey Lapis!" Steven said while waving with a butter knife in his hand.

"STEVEN! Put that knife down! You'll cut your self" Peridot scolded him.

"Hey guys" He waved.

"Hey Steven!" Lapis greeted.
"Hello Steven" Jasper said.

"Hi little guy! " You smiled and ruffled his hair.
"Did you sleep well?" You asked.

"Yeah I slept pretty great, at least until Peridot woke me up again with her health check ups".

"The what?" Lapis asked.

" Health check up? Are you sick?" Jasper asked.

"You don't look sick" you said, tilting Stevens head up a bit.

"No I'm not sick. Peridot just been doing check ups on me every day since I got that cold" Steven explained.

"You're still doing that?" Jasper asked.

"Yes I'm STILL doing that Jasper. Unlike some gems I actually care about Stevens safety" She spat.

"We all care about Steven Peridot. You're just being overbearing" Jasper crossed her arms.

"I'm not overbearing! I'm maternal. Steven, tell her"

"Well you did take my second pillow away, cause you said it might be... dangerous" He muttered.

"I was worried about you getting smothered in your sleep. Anyways you don't need two" Peridot  waved her arm.

You face palmed.

"Yeah but it was nicer with two"

Steven muttered to himself and ate his sandwich.

"For someone so worried about smothering, you seem to be doing a lot of it" Jasper said.

"OOOOOooooohhh" Lapis smirked.

"Anyways, Steven. We're going on a mission, would you like to come with us?" You asked him.

"I can go on the mission?" Steven asked excitedly.

Peridot fell on the floor "WHAT!? S-Steven can't go on mission! It's too dangerous, he's not ready, he doesn't have any of his powers, he can't-"
