Sunday and Monday passed and at practice we just worked on our routine and conditioned. Tuesday morning I woke up to my dad being home and my mom at work. "I made you some waffles for you before you go to school!" My dad yelled before I walked out of the door. "You're the best dad." I told him grabbing the waffles off the plate and putting them in a baggie. I could eat my waffles plain. I kissed his cheek and ran to the car. I had woken up late since last nights practice and homework had made me stay up late. I parked at the school just as the bell was ringing that class started in five minutes. I ran inside and saw Cam waiting for me. "You're late." He said as we started speed walking to my first period. "I woke up late obviously." I said looking at him. He kept fidgeting with his hands and I knew something was up. "I wanted to talk to you about something." He said nervously. I hated when he got like this. We've been bestfriends for so long that whenever he got nervous around me I knew it wasn't a good thing. "We can talk at lunch?" I asked stopping at my door. He nodded his head and ran off to his class. I sat down in my seat as my teacher started talking but I couldn't focus on what they were saying. I tried to think of anything that he could possibly need to tell me that would make him so nervous. I hope lunch comes quickly I thought to myself. The first four periods of the day passed meaning fifth period had finally come. Lunchtime! I went to buy food and Carly joined me in the line. "Guess what?" She said as we sat down at a table with a few of our friends. I raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "Blake and I are going on a date tonight! An actual date just him and I!" She squealed not being able to contain her smile. "I think he's a good guy and you have my blessing if he wants to date you." I told her glancing around for Cameron. She went on about what she was going to wear and how she was going to style her hair while I zoned out. Cameron sat down next to me and Carly glanced at us. "So you haven't told her yet have you?" I looked between both of them,"Told me what?" I turned to him. He glared at Carly before turning to me and sighing. "I was going to at lunch. Remember Brooke? I'm going on a date with her tonight." I'm sure my eyes were popping out of my head. He has never been interested in dating. So many girls have liked him and tried to go out with him but he always said he wasn't interested in them. "What? You told me you didn't care to date." I told him trying hard not to sound upset. "I know but we've been dming and that led to texting and she honestly seems really cool. I didn't even mean to ask her out it just kind of came in my head and I rolled with it." He tried explaining to me. "Wow I mean I'm shocked more than anything but if you think it'll work then go for it." I told him standing up. "I've gotta go run to print something off. I'll catch you later." I walked out of the cafeteria and headed to the library and sat down on one of the couches. I felt sick to my stomach for some reason. Sure I've dated before but Cameron has never dated before and I worried what that was going to do to our friendship. Him and I always do everything together. Even when I dated that jerk I still talked to Cam all the time. This is ridiculous I thought to myself. For all I know the date doesn't go right and I end up worrying over nothing. I texted Cam telling him not to forget to text me all of the details about his date. Once school ended Cam walked me to my car and told me what all they were going to do. "We're going to go to that one fancy Italian place called Luigis. Maybe get ice cream after if she wants to." "That sounds like you guys are going to have a lot of fun. I really do hope it goes well. You've never experienced what it's like being in a relationship." I told him sitting in my car facing him. "I have plenty of friends and those are relationships." He tried arguing. "A friendship is not the same as a relationship. I've gotta run but have fun!" He turned to walk away and I sped off to pick up his siblings. Once I safely picked up Callie and Cason I went to drop them off. "Hi Mr. King! What are you doing home so early?" I saw him sitting in the living room. Callie and Cason ran to hug him and then ran off to take their shoes off. "Lily and I have a dinner tonight with some of her clients. They just closed a deal and invited us to a dinner out. Which I meant to tell Cameron to ask but would you mind watching Callie and Cason tonight? It seems everyone is busy." He chuckled lightly looking at me. I felt bad if I said no so i volunteered to. I told him I just needed to run home to shower and change and then I'd be back over and he said no rush they're leaving around 6:30. That left me about 2 and a half hours to go home. I ran home and showered and threw on sweatpants and a sweatshirt and pulled my crocs on. I managed to finish all of my homework that way I didn't have to wait till Callie and Cason were asleep to do it. Just then Carly and Cameron texted me asking what they should wear on their date. Both were doing dinner but Carly was also going to see a movie. I told her to wear a cute flor Ku romper that she had with some brown wedges. Cameron had sent me two choices. A blue button up with khakis or a grey button up with khakis. I told him grey was my favorite on him so that's what he chose. When it neared 6:15 I started to head out. Neither of my parents were home but I left a message saying where I was even though they probably knew I would be there. "Alright the kids said they wanted to have pizza if you don't mind calling that in. Feel free to order whatever you like and we'll pay." Lily, Cameron's mom said to me. I told her I'd just eat some of the pizza and watched them drive off. "Can we pretty please play hide n seek?" Cason asked giving me his puppy dog eyes. Just like Cameron was I was also a sucker for puppy dog eyes. "You're it!" He yelled to me and ran off with Callie not far behind him. After counting to 10 I knew Callie would hide in her moms closet so I ran to check there first. I could hear her little giggles. I slowly opened the door. "Found you!" I laughed grabbing her. "Aww no fair I don't like being it." We continued to play tag for about an hour. I saw the clock said 8:00 and I called for pizza delivery. The girl on the phone said it would be here in about 15 minutes. I made Callie and Casen take their showers and change into their pjs. Their bed time is around 9:30 but I try to have them in bed at 9 so they can watch a little tv. The door rang and I paid and tipped the guy who delivered. "Alright if we eat our pizza and finish getting ready for bed you guys can have some time to watch a tv show." I told them putting their slices on their plate. They quickly ate and I tucked them each into their bed and put on an episode of spongebob in both of their rooms. I knew they were probably gonna fall asleep during the episode so I turned the lights off. I sat in the living room and ate my pizza while watching tik toks on my phone. Around 9:45 I peeked in and found both of them asleep. As I was closing Callies door I heard the front door open. "Hey Camer- oh hi Brooke nice to see you again!" I said waving awkwardly. I didn't expect him to bring her to his house just yet. "I forgot you were watching the twins." He said walking over to the leftover pizza. No matter how much he ate he was always still hungry. "Yeah both you guys were busy so your dad asked me." He nodded his head and started quietly talking to Brooke. "Well I think Carly should be here soon so you're good to go. I'll wait till she gets here then take Brooke home." Cameron said walking towards me. I glanced at Brooke as she walked to the couch and sat down. "Are you sure you should have her here without meeting your parents? Especially with your siblings here?" I asked looking back at him. "Relax. Carly will be here soon anyways. And if my parents come back home soon then she can meet them early. Come on I'll walk you out." I sighed and grabbed my keys off of the counter. He opened my door and I got in. "I'll tell you about the date tomorrow. See ya!" And he ran back inside. I drove home and threw myself onto my bed. Carly facetimed me when she got home and told me all about how much of a gentlemen Blake was and that there wasn't a dull moment the whole time. "- and he walked me to the front door and kissed me! It was literally like a movie scene." She sighed. "I'm so happy for you. You really got a good one." "Hey you'll find someone just as good if not better for you. We just have to keep looking. I'm sure Blake has some friends you could hit it off with." I laughed at her offer and shook my head. "I'm not looking for a relationship right now." Hunter and I broke up two years ago but it still hurt to think about him and being in a relationship. "I know I know. I forgot to mention. When I walked into the house I saw Cameron and Brooke kissing. Can you believe it? Like full on making out on the couch. My eyes are forever scarred." She shuddered thinking about it. Well that was fast I thought to myself. She just better not push him to do anything he doesn't want to I thought to myself. "Well I'm going to go dream about my date. I'll see you at school! Goodnight!" And with that she ended the call. It seemed everyone was having a good date night.
