THE DANCER AND HIS MELODY
SONG: PRETTY U BY SEVENTEEN
jeonghans confession song had stirred something in jihoon. it made him open his eyes, but he was too afraid to do something as brave as his hyung had done.
but at least he finally admitted that he was completely, utterly in love with kwon soonyoung. cheerful happy-virus soonyoung. cute hamster soonyoung. soonyoung, the boy who never gave up on his dreams and always saw the best in everything. he wasnt flawless, but in jihoons eyes, he was perfect. despite his lack of sensitivity sometimes, despite his talent to somehow always say the wrong things at the wrong times.
it was so tiring. sighing, jihoon put his schoolwork aside and threw his head back, muscles aching from sitting in the same position for too long.
they were too scared of being recognized by the parents they had ran away from, so changkyun had gotten them signed up for online classes.the others were happy with that, but not jihoon.
lee jihoon didnt like being in the same flat as kwon soonyoung for a whole day.
too many feelings, too much confusion. too much oh-god-please-dont-look-at-me-im-blushing.
"jiji~" the honey-like voice he loved and hated at the same time pierced through the silence. soonyoung always complained how his voice was way too high-pitched, and jihoon had to admit, it was pretty high, but it was soonyoungs and that made it perfect.
"yes?", he answered, yawning quietly.
the door opened and in came soonyoung, looking like he had just bathed in paint and panting frantically. "jiji, we were trying to paint the wall in the living room, but minghao that fucker got paint all over me! now ill have to throw the t-shirt away!"
"so?" he sounded ruder than he wanted to, but there was no taking back now. "its not gucci or anything, just throw it into the trash."
it was cheap t-shirt in white with small blue clouds all over it and a big, bright red heart on the back. it looked childish and if it werent soonyoung who wore it, jihoon knew for a fact he would have hated the cloth.
"i cant, i dont want to throw it away. its the one you bought me and that makes it my favourite shirt!", soonyoung exclaimed.
>>oh shit-<< jihoon knew he was blushing like crazy even before feeling the familiar heat rushing into his cheeks and ears. fuck, how could he not blush with soonyoung standing infront of him, pouting and pointing at the shirt? who could resist this look?
"well- then...how a-about ill buy you a new one? lets go to the mall tomorrow." he should have just shut up, oh my god, what did he do help-
"really? you would go with me?" soonyoung's small eyes got wide and he opened his mouth in disbelief. jihoon knew how much he hated his small eyes - "it makes me look like the chinese stereotype, jij!", he had once said. but to jihoon, they were cute, just like him.
"y-yeah. lets go tomorrow at 8 am, how does that sound to you?"
"yes yes yes jiji i love you!"
and then, soonyoung hugged jihoon. he hugged the smaller so tight, jihoon thought he would break.
but everything was okay, as long as soonyoung was the one holding him.
"omg jiji, pleaaaaaaseeee can i get this one?"
"sure. anything else?"
soonyoung wordlessly shook his head, holding the sweater he had chosen close to his chest. jihoon already knew he would look so cute in it - it was oversized, red with a little kawaii-bunny on it.
"then lets go pay." the two went up to the counter and jihoon got out his wallet, handing the amount the sweater costed over to the cashier, a girl with bright blue hair and a smile on her face.
"going shopping with your boyfriend?", she asked jokingly.
jihoon could feel how soonyoung wanted to correct her behind him, so he cut him off. "yeah, we are on a date and he wanted something."
"you two are cute. have a nice day!" she winked at them and the two left the shop.
as soon as they were out on the street again, jihoon nervously took a glance at soonyoung - was he angry because jihoon had told her they were a couple? would he leave him? would he be disgusted?but soonyoung never said a word, just quietly hummed and smiled to himself.
"lets go to a cafe, shall we? i know one." it was time for the special moment jihoon had planned yesterday.
he had decided to confess his love, finally. but not with a song, that felt wrong. that didnt feel like he had really thought about it, because writing a song wasnt anything special to him anymore. but he wanted his confession to be special.
"of course!"
jihoon lead soonyoung to the small cafe he had chosen yesterday - it was nicely decorated, and the violet "cafe 24/7" above the door was already pleasing to look at. as soon as they entered, the boy behind the counter nodded in jihoon's direction. jihoon nodded back, remembering that the boy's name was mark. mark tuan.
as soon as the two had sat down at one of the small tables, mark came over and greeted them with a smile. "welcome to cafe 24/7, what can i get you two?"
"oh, ill just have a black coffee." "for me too, please."
mark nodded and went back behind the counter to prepare their order, bu jihoon knew he would not only come back with two coffees, but something else too.
"it looks nice here", soonyoung whispered to himself and jihoon smiled as he noticed the small smile on the other's lips. he was praying to god soonyoung would say yes.
mark came back, carrying a slice of cake and two black coffees. soonyoung opened his mouth to protest, but mark just put the cake down and hurried away, knowing exactly what jihoon was going to do now. after all, the boy had called the owner of the cafe yesterday evening, explaining his plans.
soonyung looked at the slice of cake and jihoon held his breath.
it was a simple chocolate cake wiht pink frosting that decorated the top nicely, spelling the words "will you be my boyfriend?". a small hear was drawn behind the question.
silence filled the cafe, the only other customer, a young lady in her mid-30s, left afer finishing her cake. only the two were still here, staring at each other. both at a loss of words.
finally, soonyoung spoke up. "jiji-"
jihoon cut him off. "im serious, soonyoung. ive been in love wiht you for too long to just...leave it be. its not some stupid crush. its love. the love ive written countless songs about. the love in every book. the love in your cheesy dramas, the ones i hate so much."
he smiled a broken smile and soonyoung returned it. but the smile faded, and a small giggle left his lips.
"its love~", he repeated, before slowly getting up and walking over to jihoon.
jihoon expected many things to happen.
he would get slapped.
told he was disgusting.
maybe get the cake thrown at him.
he closed his eyes, ready for whatever humilation would come.
but Nothing happened -
instead, he felt the warm sensation of a pair of lips on his own.
"yes", soonyoung whispered into their kiss.
