Terran's group began to walk to Garmer. The journey was short and yet long. The group were not able to rest that night in an inn or campfire for fear of being discovered by shadows in the dark, lurking around them. This fear would disappear in the daytime as light granted peace. In the dark one could not see anything which is why it instills terror into people. You don't know what's there... or who's there.
Terran and his group had arrived at the town of Garmer finding a truly strange sight. A group of a few dozen soldiers ran past them in the direction of the fort they had just traveled from. Everyone wandered deeper into the town to find an even more disturbing and peculiar sight.
"Alright everyone. We must be cautious. This town is situated right outside Fort Baux. Prepare for an ambush," Hiyoto said, signaling for everyone to walk slower and always be looking in all directions.
The group saw a sight that was truly strange. Stone statues of what appeared to be soldiers. The statues were incredibly detailed.
"These statues are really detailed," Puro exclaimed.
"Too detailed..." Balk said out of suspicion that something more sinister awaited them in the town.
"Are you talking about my statues?" A voice called out from above the group.
Everyone looked up and saw a man with metal armor. Over that armor he wore a black cloak with red patterns on it and a cape on his back bearing the crest of Baux. He seemed to have something hidden in the inner left pocket of his jacket.
"Who goes there!?" Hiyoto yelled at the figure.
"I am a Templar for Baux."
"Your name?" Terran asked, seeing that Hiyoto had no intention of asking them that.
"Hrmm. My name is Lawrence. You?"
"Terran. This is Hiyoto, Balk, and Puro," Terran said as he pointed to everyone.
"Well. I've certainly heard of all your names before. My father's been instructing me to put up wanted posters of you but I thought it'd be more fun to kill you myself."
"You speak boldly for a Templar who wanders far from their home," Balk said in suspicion.
"Well, it's true I wander far from home, but it is also true all of you are about to become statues like these soldiers. Sadly our main forces were destroyed by that bastard's rebels. Luckily, my gun's bullets fly faster than you can run," Lawrence said as he pulled out a steel gun with a rounded barrel.
Lawrence then fired a shot at Hiyoto, hitting him in the shoulder. Hiyoto now grasped his shoulder, expecting blood to drip out of the wound he thought was there, but there was no wound or blood.
"My shoulder... I can't feel anything," Hiyoto said as he now ripped off his cape and tore off that piece of his shirt to see that his shoulder was slowly turning to stone.
"This gun is very special you see. I've grounded up cockatrice bones into a fine powder and turned them into pellets that will petrify you within a matter of minutes. Of course shooting you again would speed up the process."
Terran now charged at Lawrence out of anger, but Lawrence shot a warning shot at Terran's feet causing him to trip.
"Now. What business brings you to Garmer? Are you affiliated with the rebels or planning on killing a certain someone in Fort Baux?" Lawrence asked Terran while pointing their gun at him.
"That is not for you to know!" Terran yelled back at Lawrence, drawing his sword.
"Very well it seems as if trying to talk with you is useless."
Lawrence fired another shot at Terran who moved his sword in front of his face, slicing the pellet in half before it hit him.
"Bravo. You've managed to block it. But take a look at your weapon."
Terran looked at his sword. It was turning to stone!
"I must be quick," Terran said as he tried to scale the building Lawrence was on by using crates as a staircase.
Balk too began to run up to the short house Lawrence was situated upon, drawing his blade as Lawrence fired at him. Balk blocked the shot but his sword too began to turn to stone.
Hiyoto tried to run up to Lawrence to get into range so he could paralyze them with Lightning Stab, but Lawrence fired at Hiyoto's leg and other arm as they now slowly began to turn to stone. Hiyoto tripped and fell as his left leg was becoming petrified. Lawrence fired 2 more shots into Hiyoto to ensure he would petrify quicker.
As Terran and Balk were almost to the building Lawrence was on, Puro began readying a spell.
Lawrence saw Puro raising their arm and muttering an incantation and shot at them. Puro narrowly avoided the shot but his progress to cast the spell was ruined.
Terran was now on the building Lawrence was on. He attempted to swing his sword at Lawrence for a downward strike but Lawrence. Lawrence instead used the armor they had on their arms and hand to block the part of the sword that was turned to stone with their wrists. The sword snapped apart being made of stone and Lawrence kicked Terrance down, rolling off the building as Balk had climbed up and tried to attack him. Lawrence then reloaded his clip as Balk jumped down trying to slash him. Lawrence dodged to the side, punching Balk away and onto the ground.
"For wearing all that armor he sure is fast!" Terran would exclaim as he picked himself off the ground.
Puro attempted to hit Lawrence head on but Lawrence would dodge all their strikes, shooting them three times in the chest as they were pushed back. Lawrence would then walk back a few steps. Only Terran and Balk remained.
"It seems as if my shot truly is faster than the lot of you. Should I dispose of you or should I bring you back to the fort and question you? I'm not very sure."
Terran would attempt to tackle Lawrence down. Lawrence would instead front kick him, causing him to be knocked back onto the ground as Lawrence attempted to shoot him but realized he was out of bullets.
Balk would now charge at Lawrence, trying to slash at them a few times. Eventually Balk cut Lawrence's cape with one of his attacks but Lawrence had been reloading while dodging and shot Balk in the foot, causing him to trip as Lawrence unloaded more bullets into Balk, causing him to petrify within a matter of seconds.
"Balk! Puro! Hiyoto! You've petrified them all!" Terran would yell in horror now realizing that he was alone.
"Yes. I've seen enough death for today so I'll spare all of you, but you'll end up in our prison."
"I won't let you!" Terran yelled as he pulled out a dagger, trying to stab Lawrence. Lawrence dodged, punching Terran in the gut, knocking him out.
"Death seems to follow knights everywhere. I am only glad that I don't have to kill even more," he said as he carried Terran's body to Fort Baux.
Lawrence would command 3 knights to take Puro, Balk, and Hiyoto to the fort, releasing them from their petrified state with revive stones and putting them all in a jail cell.
