(3 days before Christmas)

"But mother, I don't want to go to this party."

"For Merlin's sake Sam, you sound like you're 7 years old -- Seth you can't wear that to a party! Go back to your room and change."

"But mother, it makes me look good."

Seth and I chuckled as mum glared at us obviously irritated. "We're leaving in 15 minutes. Seth, please change." She let out a sigh as she headed upstairs to her room. She hasn't even gotten dressed yet.

This morning, Scorpius and I went to the Weasleys' joke shop because he wanted to go somewhere fun. Seth joined us later on and apparently, so did Lupin, who pretended to be Fred because he thought he'd be funny. He also took me took me to this private pub in Knockturn Alley where creepy people hang out. He took me there and showed me a group of old witches and wizards that's getting drunk and doing other weird things preferably not mentioned. We just watched them and laugh as if they're a comedy show.

But after that, Seth and I went home and I watched TV. Then mum returned from her work and told us that we will be going to a party tonight. She said one of her colleagues is throwing Christmas party and we're invited. Her colleague is Melody Rookwood, who is a bit of a rich, pureblood maniac that works at the Ministry of Magic. She's a bit of a prick but according to mum, she's still a little nice so they're friends. Melody and her husband Augustus just had a child at the beginning of the year and they want to introduce this child to their friends during a Christmas party.

And so here we are, Seth and I, dressed up for the party. I picked out a simple black dress to wear. Seth, on the other hand, had a colorful attire. His buttoned up shirt is blue, his trousers are white and his bow tie is red. He also has a black blazer.

"Seth, you're going to embarrass mum and I at the party."

"I'm going to be honest, I can't find all my other fancy clothes so I just wore what I saw first." Seth grins, fixing his bow tie. "Bow ties are cool."

I crossed my arms. "You can't quote Doctor Who because you don't watch Doctor Who."

Just as mum said, we left 15 minutes after, with Seth still wearing his colorful outfit. Mum just glared at him but didn't bother saying anything else. We used the car to drive to the Rookwood family's house, which was about an hour away. Their house is quite big, but not like a Manor. They live in a secluded place, there aren't many muggles around but they are definitely in a rich neighborhood.

When we pulled over their house, there were a lot more other cars, so it wasn't a surprise when I saw a lot of guests inside when we entered. There are mostly old people, some are middle aged and also a fair few number of children and several teens. All of them are dressed up elegantly with diamonds on their body.

"May I take your coat, miss?" An elf appears next to me with his hand extended.

I removed my trench coat since the room is warm enough, and gave it to the elf with green eyes, covered in a simple peach cloth. "Thank you." I smiled and the elf returns it before moving on to the guests coming behind us.

"Ah, there's the Averys!" A tall woman with short brown hair, dressed in a short red dress, greets us as we stepped further into the house. She pulled mum to a hug and then smiled widely at us. "Samantha! It's been so long since I've seen you! You were just a little baby girl! Now you're not a baby anymore! Still little but you're looking beautiful! And you, young man, must be Seth! It's nice to finally meet you!"

Wait, I've met her before? And Seth hasn't?

"Eve, your kids are looking wonderful and so are you!" She says with a big, very fake smile. "Why don't you all eat something and talk to the other guests? We'll catch up later." She then greeted the family behind us in the same exact way, hugging them and complimenting them with that big smile.
