SHE STARED OUT OF the window of her car at the big boarding house sitting metres away from her. Her mind running a hundred kilometres an hour, trying to figure out if she should get out or not.

Coming back to the town she left 145 years ago to get away from heartache and drama spun her threw a loop since she never imagined herself coming back here. Especially not to relive the bad memories she shoved at the back of her head.

But the man she calls her best friend popped into her mind to remind her why she came back. She wanted to start again in the town of Mystic Falls. A town she grew to love once upon a time. She wanted to fall in love with it all over again.

She closed her eyes as her head leaned against the headrest of the car chair as she knew she made her mind up once she thought of her best friend.

So Illyana Pierce got out of her car, her brown eyes glancing at her packed suitcases and boxes full of her things in the backseat and closed the door. The brunette turned her head and gave herself a small nod before she started to make her way to the front door of the Salvatore Boarding House.

Illyana took in a deep breath before letting it out, shaking her nerves and anxiety off as her living in the town that made her run away from it in the first place scared her. She lifted her hand and knocked on the door, holding her breath in anticipation.

She felt silly for being like this, feeling like this and reacting this way over shit that happened 145 years ago. Memories and feelings that probably didn't matter to anyone anymore. But unfortunately for Illyana, it'll always matter to her.

     She's sensitive like that.

The door to the house opening made Illyana blink out of her train of thought. A man who she knew to be Zach Salvatore stood in front of her with a kind smile but weary eyes.

He nodded to her in greeting. "Hi, how can I help you?"

Illyana forced a smile on her lips as she pushed down the nausea she can feel in her stomach. "Hey, I'm here to see Stefan Salvatore? I'm a friend of his."

Zach squinted his eyes at the brunette, questioning his motives as to what he should do next. He slowly nodded his head, taking a few steps back and gesturing his arm open for her to come inside. "Sure, he's just upstairs. I'll get him for you."

Although he didn't say the 2 magic words, come in. In Illyana's case, she didn't need a verbal invitation to come inside a humans home. A sigh escaped Zach's mouth as Illyana stepped through the threshold of the Salvatore boarding house, her eyes flitting around the place as memories rushed back to her.

For 500 hundred years, Illyana or anyone close to her never understood how she kept her powers when she turned into a vampire. Her magic. Illyana was a unique creature who she called herself, a vampire witch.

She kept her magic despite dying and coming back to life as a vampire who, by the laws of nature, her magic should've died with her. As far as nature works, you can't be 2 of the same kind. Vampire or witch? Never both.

Illyana walked into the living room, her eyes taking in the furniture and the stocked liquor table that had the eldest Salvatore's name all over it. She heard Zach walk up the stairs to retrieve Stefan so she made herself at home and poured herself a drink.

She picked up the glass filled with auburn liquid and sipped it, relishing in the burning feeling at the back of her throat. Hearing padded footsteps coming down the stairs quickly, she turned around to see Stefan come around the corner. A big smile adorning both their faces.
