Friday had finally arrived; I swear it felt like it took forever to change each day. Throught out the past couple of days, I’ve been preparing myself for both Libby’s funeral on Saturday, and for today... when Harry Styles was coming to see me. They were both big moments in my life; so I made sure to take time and make sure I was ready for both events. On Wednesday, I wrote my farewell note that I was asked to read when I attended the funeral. Libby’s parents knew that I was one of her closest friends, and wanted me to speak at the ceremony.

Writing that farewell speech was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Trying to write about all the good things about Libby wasn’t hard... it was just an issue that there were so many. It was also difficult to write it due to the tears that were constantly falling from my eyes. After a good couple hours, I was able to finish it... I was awfully proud of it to be honest.

It was only Friday morning, and I knew that I had to wait till 5 to pick Harry up from the airport. I did have to drive a good hour and a half to get to the airport, but that’s nothing I would complain about. I drove two hours just to get to the concert. I decided to spend my day walking around the city. I live in Portland, Maine and the city here is the perfect size. It’s nothing crazy like Boston, Mass or New York. It is big enough to have shops, cafes, music venues and all things similar; but it’s nothing crazy like the bigger towns.

I lived in a small suburb on the outskirts of town, so it only took me a good 10 minutes to drive to the city; the only issue is the parking... its scarce. The Old Port (which is the city part of Portland) is a tourist trap. There are many people who come down from Canada or up from other states in New England to enjoy the Maine life. But, due to so many tourists; parking spots were few and  far between. I’ve lived in Portland the majority of my life, so over time I’ve been able to find areas that tourist aren’t able to find; I’m able to find parking there almost 90% of the time.

The weather was nice today, the sun was hidden behind the clouds but the warmth in the air was still there. Due to that, I was able to wear a sweater, a beige pair of skinny jeans and a simple pair of vans. I made sure to keep a tank top hidden under my sweater just in case it got too hot.

Walking around downtown was always enjoyable for me. I made sure to bring a pair of headphones with me, and as I walked up and down the streets, I was singing along in my head to whatever songs were playing. As I walk around, my eyes are wide open as I observe the areas around me. I look around me and notice a small thrift store called “Material Objects”. Hmm... that seems interesting. I made my way into the shop and browsed around the store.

After a good 15 minutes of looking, I found two sweaters and a pair of booties. When I checked out, to my surprise the whole bundle was only $15. ‘Well done’ I thought to myself; I’m always looking for a good deal.

With a bag in my hand, I continued to walk around the town. I found myself on a side street where I found a small Sushi bar. I pulled out my cell phone and noticed that it was noon time. Lunch didn’t seem so bad... so I decided to take a stop and get a plate of sushi. As I sat down with a plate of sushi, I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket. I took it out and read the text that I had.

“I’m boarding the plane now, See you soon!” Harry told me that he’d text me when he was getting on the plane; 10 points to him for remembering. The whole time I was eating my sushi, I was wanting to text him. I knew the rules of the airlines though, there was no cell phone use on the planes.  I finished my sushi in about 10 minutes, so I payed for my meal and left the restaurant.

I realized that I was a good 15 minute walk away from my truck, so I decided to head that way. I knew that I’d have to fill up on gas and change my outfit before I made it to the airport. I walked along and there was a man sitting on the side of the sidewalk. Near time was a sleeping German Shepherd. He was holding a cardboard sign that I knew was asking for money. Bless my poor heart; I took out my wallet and gave the man a 5 dollar bill. As he grabbed the money, I could notice his eyes getting glassy.
