Let's just say Poseidon does not have a split personality for a second, 'Kay?
___________Jason's day had just become that much more... godly. He didn't know what had gotten into him, but for some unknown reason, he had gone to the beach and sat down on the sand (far away from the water, though).
His thoughts had drifted and the gentle sound of the waves lapping at the shore had slowly lulled him into sleep.
To be honest, finding out so much about Percy had been exciting, but also... threatening. Jason was sure he had done great things, too, after all, he was the leader of the Roman demigod camp, but without his memories, he just felt... intimidated. And he hated it.
But anyway, he had been pulled out of his slumber by someone clearing their throat. Opening his eyes groggily, he blinked up to the man standing a few feet away.
He wore khaki shorts and a colourful Hawaii shirt, grabbing a fishing rod in his hand. Jason had never seen him before and his mind was still asleep, so he said the first thing that came to his mind, "Fishing is forbidden here."
The guy looked at him like he had lost his mind. Jason rubbed his eyes and slowly came to his feet. "Uh, sorry," he muttered, trying to hide a yawn. "Who are you again?" The man shook his head and Jason could defect an amused twinkle in his eyes. "I'm Poseidon."
Jason was pretty sure his mouth had broken through the ground and was now dangling somewhere on the other side of the earth. He spluttered and promptly fell to his knees, his face burning. Had he just told a god not to fish?!
"No need for that," said Poseidon and Jason rose to his feet again, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry, for... you know..."
"It's okay. You are not the first demigod to disrespect a god." A small, sad smile crossed his face. "I know some other demigods who have made it their mission in life to see how much they can offend us before something happens."
Jason swallowed hard. Poseidon seemed very sad, now that he thought about it. "You mean Percy, right?" he asked carefully.
Poseidon nodded solemnly. "Yes."
Jason bit his lip. This was a one-of-a-lifetime chance, but he couldn't just ask... could he?Poseidon captured his eyes with his, and for a moment, Jason felt like sinking, being swallowed by the seven seas. "Ask," said the god, and Jason blinked, the illusion of the sea fading. "What?"
"Whatever you want to ask, do it."
"Uh, okay."
Jason took a deep breath and wrung his hands. "If you could describe Percy in one word, what would it be?"
He waited with bated breath as Poseidon seemed to mull over his words.
"Percy is... defiant," he finally answered, smiling slightly. "He would never blindly follow an order just because we are gods. If something isn't right, he acts against it. Percy has... a strong moral code. He was not happy with the way we treated our children before the second Titan War, so he changed it."
They stood in silence and Jason's lips twitched upwards. "I really want to meet him, he sounds like a good person."
"He is, Jason, he really is."
