Rin hadn't seen lord Sesshōmaru in days. She had been walking by Jakens side, searching for Lord Sesshomaru but in the end coming out empty, with no clue where he was. Even though that made the both of them sorrowful, they continued to search for the demon. They even asked people that were passing if they had saw him but they soon ran away after seeing Jaken behind Rin.
"Rin... what if we dont find him?" Jaken said pessimistically, kicking the stone that lay on the dusty pathway. Rin felt the small rocks hit her heels and turned around to look at Jaken. She kneeled down and patted his shoulder, smiling in reassurance. She turned back around trying to ignore his question, scared to even imagine what her answer would be. Every day, searching everywhere they could but the longer they went without seeing him, the more hope was lost.
That night they settled down by a river, towering trees surrounded it making the river seem small in comparison. Jaken was sat near the fire, mumbling to himself, trying to stay calm for Rin. Rin however was walking around finding sticks to go into the fire, but was also thinking only about how she would feel to not see Lord sesshomaru again. The feeling was familiar to her. For the many years beforehand that she didn't see Sesshomaru, it felt like she was all alone, a burrowing whole in her heart that ached every time that sesshomaru appeared her mind.
Trying to ignore the throbbing pain in her chest, she slowly walked back to Jaken with a small pile of slim stick, dropping them to the ground before sitting next to the sad imp. They both faced the river, looking at the reflection of the trees and the moon that made the water glisten. Sat in silence, the two continued to think about the demon that left them not too long ago, however it felt like it had been months.
Rin lay down on the grass, using her arm as a pillow. She suddenly realised that Lord Sesshomaru has been the only thing she would think about, every day, every minute her mind was filled with her lord. Gently closing her eyes, she listened to the calming calls of the night, drifting into a sleep. Not much long after Rin, Jaken did the same and fell asleep waiting for the next day where the search would start all over again.
The next morning, Rin woke up more optimistic than the previous days full of searching. Her smile was radiant and made Jaken feel a little better. They begun their journey a little earlier than usual, but even so they made their way through the view of unlimited trees and finally got to the grass land. Even the sun shon a bit brighter, there were only very small, pure white clouds that flowed from one side of the sky to the other.
After Resting for about 20 minutes, they continued their lookout and marched across the land, going through every village that came into sight, asking about sesshomaru and his where-beings. Though, as usual the answer was the same no matter who they asked or how many times they questioned the villagers.
"Its no use Rin, we wont be able to find Lord Sesshomaru! He is long gone by now" he says looking down at his feet, disappointed with himself for saying it out loud, despite it being the truth. Rin turned to him with an expression filled with sadness yet agreement. Her chiseled eyebrows were slightly arched, her smile now vanishing and her spirit with it.
"Sir Jaken, did i do something wrong? Something that made him leave that i didn't realise i did to anger or upset him?!" She says under her breath, holding back the tears that were about to trickle from her glazed over eyes. He pondered for a few seconds before turning back to answer Rin, his reply being a shake of his head.
"Anyway, we should continue our search" she says with a crack in her voice while wiping away a drop from the side of her face. She lifts herself of the ground and waves to Jaken to hurry up. They walked for a few hours before getting to another forest. They sped past the trees and reached the edge, seeing a hill with another village at the top. Rin looks at Jaken and Jaken looks back at Rin, the search continued.
