*Denki POV*
The streets were quiet as I made my way down the cobblestone path, only the sounds of my sloshing footsteps and rain cascading from the rooftops and down the uneven roads filling my ears as I murmured under my breath, reading the signs in the windows I passed. I was on the hunt for a specific place; a place that was my only chance at any sort of help. For the last few months, I'd been losing time; or rather, losing memories of time. Hours and hours lost for seemingly no reason, my family's doctor was completely clueless as to the cause and the people around me were becoming fed up with it. My fiancee had left me earlier in the week because she couldn't take it anymore; 'You are a mindless shell of what you used to be' she'd said as she dropped the ring in my hand, and maybe she was right. My father was losing patience with me as well, to the point where he was considering cutting his losses with me and just leaving the KaminaTional Co. to my younger sister, Dara.
My entire future was hinging on the capabilities of the little shop I was desperately searching for... Bakery, Bookstore, Seamstress, Butcher... A small hanging sign ahead of me caught my attention and I breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of a mortar and pestle carved into the wood under the words 'L/N's Alchemy, Elixers and Solutions.' FINALLY!
"Thank Cripes!" I murmured, relieved as I grasped the door handle and pulled the heavy wooden door open. With the chime of a bell I entered the shop; the smells of mint, eucalyptus, ginger, ginseng and a wood fire invading my nose. It was comfortably warm in the shop, a very welcome change from the freezing rain outside, and gave me a very cozy, welcoming feeling as I glanced around the tiny shop. There were shelves from floor to ceiling on every wall, filled top to bottom with potted plants and bottles of varying colors, sizes and shapes. Dried flowers and plants hung from the rafters above my head, along with a few candlelit chandeliers. Over in the far corner of the room there was a small counter with an aged looking cash register sat on it along with a very unusual looking plant about the size of a small dog. Upon closer inspection it looked somewhat similar to a Venus Flytrap, but the bulbs were shaped differently, almost like a Dragons head and were a brilliant coloring of red and purple. Are they moving? I thought to myself as I reached out to touch one of the bulbs...
"DON'T TOUCH THEM!" A panicked voice cried out behind me, causing me to reflexively yank my hand away from the plant... That aggressively snapped at where my fingers had just been! What the hell?!
Turning around to chastise the owner of the voice for keeping a plant like that in the shop I was cut off by a soft hand snatching up my hand that had nearly been mutilated by that plant, the hand jerking mine around and twisting my wrist. "It didn't bite you, thank goodness! Sorry about that, Snap Dragons are mean little buggers, but great at snacking on the pests that come in to chew up product. How can I help you?"
I finally got a second to process what was happening and realized that the voice was coming from a young woman, probably about my age, with chocolate brown hair that was pulled into a tight bun and shining gold eyes that reminded me of honey. She was pale in complexion, much like everyone in this sunless city, and I could see a few freckles dusted around her eyes and nose. She stood a head shorter than me and even through her frilly blouse and skirts I could see that she was erm-... Endowed. Her clothing consisted of a frilly (but modest) white high-neck blouse with a simple green ribbon tied in a bow around the collar and a long dark green skirt. I could tell from her clothes that she was well taken care of but that she still worked hard. She looked at me with concern as I noticed that she was still holding my hand. Damn she's cute... Why does she seem so familiar?
"Uh, yes. I had a page boy deliver a letter this morning." I replied, trying to recollect myself as I slowly pulled my hand from hers, gingerly tugging at my shirt collar as she made her way behind the counter. Reaching down out of sight I noticed her brows furrow as she let out a soft whimper that had me tugging at my collar again and slung a large and heavy looking book onto the polished wood. She moved to open the worn book when the plant snapped at her fingers, she glared at the plant and I stared in shock as she blatantly SLAPPED the bulb that tried to bite her. It shied away, retreating under one of the large leaves nestled in the pot and she shook her head at it before returning her attention to the book. Some of the pages looked old and worn as she hurriedly flipped through them towards the fresher, newer looking pages; her hand finally coming to a stop on a single line of penmanship. Even from my angle, I could see 'Lord Kaminari, November 4th. Evening' scrawled on the page and for some reason that sent a nervous flutter through my stomach. Looking up from the book she gave me a gentle smile and emerged from behind the counter, making her way to a dark corner of the room and pulled back a curtain that I hadn't noticed before, gesturing me to follow. I swallowed hard at the glint in her honey colored eyes, once again tugging at my collar as I ducked past her, finding myself in a long, warmly lit hallway with various pictures of flowers and plants framed along the walls.
