History is written by the victor. No truer words have been spoken. What if everything you knew was not as it was?
In 1917 Kaiser Wilhelm II decided against the renewal of Unrestricted Submarine Warfare against the potential convoy ships of supplies that America was sending over to the Entente. Add on when a private American ship loaded food for the starving German people and toys for their children was accidentally sunk by a British submarine, the outrage was felt by all Americans. With a change in decision and an accidental sinking the history of the world changed forever. The United States never joined the Entente or the war. France falls as German troops march into Paris in 1919 after a desperate last offensive, then Italy soon after. Britain is forced to accept a "Peace with Honor" on November 11, 1921 effectively ending The Great War or as history now remembers it as "The Weltkrieg."
The Germans helped start the Communist Revolution, but fearing what would become of it, they ended up helping the White Russian Government quell it, forming the Russian Republic that is now barely held together by a weak, unpopular President, Alexander Kerensky.
The German Empire now stands as a real world power. And her influence now encompasses the globe as France and Britain once did. Having colonial holdings on near all of central Africa or "Mittelafrika" as well as the Asian colonies of the Chinese costal cities, many Southern Pacific Islands and its capital territory in the former French Indochina now known as "Deutsch Ostasien" Japan accepted peace and returned to Germany the colonies they seized. As well as securing loyalty of multiple European states from the Baltics to Ukraine to form a bulwark against any potential Russian Incursion. However the cost of the Weltkrieg was so great German would continue to feel it in the decades beyond, with an economy in tatters and a population horrified by the casualties of the war, and being lead by old guard generals. The world empire Germany worked so hard to forge is beginning to unravel at the seams
With seven years of fighting and nothing to show for it Britain and France both fell to Syndicalist (Kaiserreichs version of Communist) Revolutions with seemingly endless amounts of caskets being returned, and brutal suppression of the demonstrations of the working class; the governments fled into exile in Canada and North Africa Respectively and prepare to one day hopefully reclaim their homelands. The new governments of the Union of Britain and the Commune of France have formed the "Third Internationale" and have the goal of vengeance on Germany and to continue to "break the chains" and spark the "World Revolution."
Syndicalism is a radical current in the labor movement that was most active in the early 20th century. Its main idea is the establishment of local worker-based organizations and the advancement of the demands and rights of workers through strikes. Only in this timeline the worker-based organizations ran entire countries.
Italy and India are now broken up completely into several different territories with the weakening of their home empires the colonial powers were unable to keep their territories from fracturing.
All either supporting republics, Syndicalism, Royalist Holdings, or independence.
Japan is nearly the same except without their gains from Germany. However the Russian territory of Transamur
(Ignore the rest of China since it was changed since last update)
Is now a Japanese puppet state as well as The Fengtian Government (Exiled Republic of China in Manchuria). Japan now stands nearly unopposed in the Pacific as it readies to expand the Empire if the Rising Sun.Germany helped restore the Qing Dynasty but now their empire is ready to break apart completely again as the corruption and weak leadership of the old regime resurfaced along with new talk of revolution of the Kuomintang and a resurgent Fengtian Force in Manchuria, and the looming threat of Japan; it is a question if the Qing Empire will restore their Mandate of Heaven or be lost in the annuals of war and history.
The United States of America as been on a steady decline and is its own powder keg waiting to blow. With volunteers going and fighting in different wars and revolutions across the world, a declining economy, the Great Depression, (not as big as the real one because of the Weltkrieg the German Stock Market now is the major one across the world), and with the federal government leaning towards more drastic measures the last true bastion of freedom and democracy is primed to implode upon itself.
The Austrio-Hungary Empire broke apart as their armies broke during the war. It's armies proved ineffective against the Italians and Russians and only continued to decline afterwards. It is up to the Austrian Empires Karl I to reunite it all by uniting or crushing the stubborn Hungarians.
The Ottoman Empire emerged victorious but the steady decline that has been going in since 1810 has continued as the Arab Revolt is soon to commence and The Sultanate of Egypt and Iran are looking to expand. They went from the "Sick man of Europe" to the "Terminally ill man of Europe."
The stage is set for the world to tear itself apart as shadows of syndicalist revolution and a new Weltkrieg are on the Horizon. The world braces for a war more terrible and costly than the last.
