Water ripples softly against the edge of the pond as the warm wind sweeps through the air, deep blues and greens of the water shining brightly against the warm evening sun. The grass grew long and thin in the area, long enough to hide in and enough to tickle the underbelly. The greenery parted harshly as a beat of wings sounded out in the area, a peaceful beast landing for a drink. Accompanied with a loud thud and the dirt rising up from the ground, the dragon lowers his head to drink from the cool water of the pond.
His pure white scales shimmer in the sun, his golden eyes closed as the dragon drank the cool water. His ears perked at a sound from somewhere behind him disturbing his peace. He grumbles and he raised his head gently, sniffing without alerting the creature behind him. His nose caught the scent of another dragon, female and a different species compared to him. The dragon stays in place, listening to the sneaking dragon, knowing full well that she wasn't really sneaking, well, considering he could hear and smell her coming. She either wasn't well trained or wasn't trying.
He heard her again, this time closer, she was going to attack him. He let his eyes quickly flicker to the side in time to see a bright green female pounce towards him, her claws stretched wide, and he quickly dodged, thus making the female fly past him. He caught a glimpse of her scales flickering to grey before she landed into the pond, sending water everywhere. The dragon uses his wings to create an umbrella to shield him from the attack of water.
The now green dragon surface from the water with a hiss, her eyes closed as she paddled to the shore and shook herself off to get most of the water off her shimmering green scales. She looked towards the white dragon.
"I could'a sworn I would've got you," she frowned. The white dragon chuckled and placed his wings back by his side.
"You weren't really being very sneaky," He said, sitting down on his haunches. The green dragon frowned with disappointment. She sat on her haunches too and began to lick her pale green scales, the bright red flower on her head between her ear and head, shimmered softly in the sun. Her eyes looked towards the dragon staring at her and stopped licking her scales, which slowly shimmered to deep pink.
"Why were you trying to sneak up on me?" He wondered, watching her scales shine to a different colour.
"I ah," she paused and looked down with embarrassment. "I don't know, just a new potential friend!" She forced a smile, her fangs showing through her lips. The white male laughed softly before looking at her again.
"What's your name, may I ask?" She asked, tilting her head. Her scales stayed their deep pink colouring, to which showed she was still quite embarrassed.
"Radar, and yours?" Radar asked, his tail coming around to wrap around his body, showing his pale pink, blue and yellow fins, which were much like the rigid wings that adorned his back, which were also the same colour.
"Kitkat," she said, her scales finally changing back to a pale green. She smiled towards him when she noticed him watching her scales change.
"I'm a colour changer, depending on my mood," she said smiling, once again showing her fangs. Radar smiled too.
"That's pretty cool," He opened his wings, and for the first time since Kitkat had seen him, she noticed how the dragon before her was a quadwing, meaning four winged. Staring in awe, Kitkat almost missed what he said next.
"Well, I'll catch you later, I gotta head home," He nodded toward her before bouncing into the sky, making dirt and grass fly into the air around them, making Kitkat have to close her eyes and shield her face as he flew away.
She pulled her wing down and sighed before heading into a nearby forest, as the sun began to set. She curled around a tree to which she had been staying near as she slept and slowly went to sleep, the sun sitting on the horizon.
