They sat on a bench, illuminated by the weakly warm rays of the setting sun. She watched as Mira walked over and hugged him, kissing him passionately. She looked away, she didn't like Mira, not at all.

Mira got up to leave, her display of affection but lasting a short while. She scrunched her nose, laughed loudly and waved goodbye to them both, her smoking cigarette between her fingers still, the smoke twirling hypnotically.

Lydia leaned forward and cupped her chin, her elbows propped on her knees. She looked up at Eden, watching him as his eyes lingered on the leaving Mira. Lydia felt a twinge and frowned, her lips in a pout.

"Why do you date girls like that? Mira's so... Wild." She asked quietly, watching Mira pull her girl-friend into a  bone-crushing hug. Their strong personalities showing in their outfit choices.

Eden watched Mira's interactions for a little while longer, before pulling his gaze away to focus on Lydia. He held her gaze steadily, the question hanging in the air.

"Could you ever run away with me?" He asked, a smile playing on his lips.

Lydia's eyebrows raised slightly. Eden always asked her to do things he knew she could never. But he always meant them as a joke. Was this another one? Or was he serious? A half-joke maybe? Regardless, her answer remained the same.

"I... I can't." She replied, quietly, her hazel eyes tearing away from Eden's grey ones. she angled them low, focusing them on the horizon.

Eden's smiled sadly. He followed her gaze to the horizon. Looking back at her, he reached out to pat Lydia's head, his hands taming the strands blown by the wind. She looked up, the sunlight caught in her eyes.

Golden hour.

"I'm kidding," Eden's hand trailed to pinch her cheek affectionately, "Don't worry about it.". Lydia grabbed ahold of his hand on her cheek, placing it against her skin, she leaned in and closed her eyes, relishing the little warmth emitting from his palm.

Eden watched and made no motions to move away. Her cheek was smooth and cool to the touch. Was she getting ill again after sitting for so long in the wind? He resisted the urge for more contact, his yearning to reach forward and pull her into a hug, as though she might disappear at anytime. No, she would probably pull away if he did.

Lydia gripped his hand tight, afraid he would leave. She didn't want to let go, she didn't want to be alone.

Eden felt a something -- a feeling -- surge within him. Quickly repressing it and putting it at the back of his mind, he eased his hand out of her grasp and got up. He turned and extended a hand to her.

"Come on, time to go. The sun's already set, and they're gonna wonder where we are. Your parents will get worried and I don't want you getting into trouble" he said, jerking his head in the direction of Home.

Lydia hesitated and grabbed his outstretched hand. He pulled her up. She tried to hide her disappointment and swallowed the lump in her throat. She nodded. Looking up, she flashed a smile.

"Yeah. Let's go home."
