Ikoyi, Lagos.Looking through the tinted glass doors, folu wondered who was here to pay condolences again, she has received enough in the last two weeks and today she really didn't want their pitiful stares or conversations.
What Is wrong with people? why can't I mourn in peace? I know for sure that their visits can't bring him back to life and I really want to mourn in peace.
I pushed the door and a young man appears, studying him for almost a minute he didn't have the pitiful stares others had. I moved aside to let him in.
" he's dead"
"I'm sorry about your loss, my name is Dave Adedoyin, play golf with your father and when i saw the news about his death i wasn't in the country, sorry if I'm bringing back memories.
I wasn't interested in anything he had said, they had all said the same thing. My father had a lot of companies and most people who visited were either business partners or those who worked under him.
" my father is dead and I know it,every single one of you come in here and remind me of my loss but you need to go cause I want to mourn him in peace." Folu screamed even when he had said nothing wrong.
David who didn't show any reaction to her outburst walked towards her and dragged her towards the mirror in the large parlour.
" you look like a mess, cry or vent but you really need to let it all out and experience the whole pain"
Folu looked into the mirror and all she could see was a broken girl.
A daddy's girl
She stared at the scary girl in the mirror, her body numb of everything around her as tears swelled in her eyes.
A daddy's girl
Folu walked away from the mirror and walked towards the door, total stranger didn't need to see her vulnerable side.
"You need to leave now" folu said while opening the door wide and if he was angry it didn't show as he walked towards the door.
"I will be here again, very soon."he smiled and walked out.
She immediately locked the door and ran upstairs into her room where she allowed the tears to flow freely, she only had herself now and even though it was a scary world she had to survive.
She switched on her Bluetooth speaker and connected it to her iPhone, playing goodbye by jorja smith.
Folu wished it was all a dream cause all she wanted was her daddy, his jokes about her being single at 22 or his endless supply of tickets for her to attend top notch events in the society.
She would really miss him and burying herself in her job seems to be her solitude.
Folu walked into her bathroom to wash her face, moving back into the room she climbed the bed and laid down while humming the lyrics of the song till she slept off.
She definitely needed the visit.
